Abstract: Hierarchical recovery of failed computing nodes to operative computing nodes within a cluster of computing nodes is managed by initiating a recovery leader at an operative node that retrieves management information from the operative nodes and applies the management information to recover filesets of a meta-fileset in a hierarchical filesystem. The use of hierarchical filesets throughout the cluster provides more rapid failover by 10 distributing recovery load across computing nodes and supporting recovery of nodes in parallel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for delivering multimedia video data from a server (h ost processor) to a plurality of clients connected to a communications network. More speci fically, with this invention, preprocessed video and multimedia data packets are stored in swit ches of the network. When a client desires to receive the video and multimedia data, sen ds a request to the host processor which in turn sends a control message to the switches sto ring the requested data. These switches in turn send the requested data to the requesting clien t. If the data is not stored in the switches, the data must then be forwarded directly from th e server to the requesting client.

Abstract: DISTRIBUTED VOICE-DATA SWITCHING ON MULTI-STAGE INTERCONNECTION NETWORKS A method of switching synchronous and asynchronous data packets through a multi-stage interconnection network (MIN), so as to insure that packets with the highest assignable priority level will never be blocked at any stage of the network. More specifically, this invention relates to a method of switching voice and data packets over the MIN wherein each of the address bits in each packet determine the connection to be established at each particular stage in the network and wherein each packet has therein a priority level. In each time slot of a frame, the priority level of the packets stored in a particular originating adapter are compared and the packet with the highest priority level in each adapter is forwarded through the MIN and routed through the MIN as described above. Also, at each subswitch at each stage of the MIN, if two or more packets request the same subswitch output, only the packet with the higher priority is forwarded to the subswitch output. A packet will be assigned the highest priority only if a corresponding packet for a given circuit connection with second highest priority level was successfully transmitted through the MIN.

Abstract: A write driver apparatus (10) is adapted for producing a first data output signal and a second data output signal used in driving data onto a bit line pair (16, 18) associated with an electronic computer memory. The first and second data output signals represent desired data and are produced in response to a data signal, refill signal, and a data propagation clock signal. The data propagation signal is derived from system clock signals. A precharge circuit (12) associated with the write driver (10) operates in response to a precharge clock signal to precharge the bit lines (16, 18) prior to each read or write operation. The precharge clock signal is related to the data propagation signal to ensure that the bit lines (16, 18) are fully precharged prior to a read operation. A keeper circuit (14) associated with the bit lines (16, 18) also helps maintain a desired charge state on the bit lines during a read operation from memory cells (20) connected to the bit lines.
