Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior power supply system for electric/electronic apparatuses, such as a notebook computer and its extention unit which can be coupled/decoupled with/from each other. SOLUTION: When an external DC power is inputted only to a DC-inlet, an FET switch is in a closed state, and the power supplied to the DC-inlet A is supplied to both DC-DC converters A and B. On the other hand, when external DC powers are inputted to both DC-inlets A and B, the FET switch is opened, and the power supplied to the DC-inlet A is supplied to the DC-DC converter A, and the power supplied to the DC-inlet B is supplied to the DC-DC converter B. A user may attach adaptor/adaptors to the DC-inlet A only or to both DC-inlets A and B according to a system construction, for instance the types of apparatuses attached to open slots.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve operability by electrically connecting a signal which can actively be inserted/extracted with a portable computer among signals and electrically separating and connecting the signal which cannot actively be inserted/extracted with the portable computer. CONSTITUTION: A sub-bus separation device 32 electrically connects the signal which can actively be inserted/extracted with the portable computer 50 among more than one signals and a main bus separation device 31 can electrically separate and connect the signal which cannot actively be inserted/extracted to the portable computer 50. Even if all the signals can mechanically and collectively be connected, the signal which can actively be inserted/extracted is electrically connected and a user can immediately use it. The signal which cannot actively be inserted/extracted is in an electrically separated state and the destruction of a system can be prevented. Consequently, operability can be improved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive extended unit having a security function against WOL under a multi-user environment where one extended unit is shared by many and unspecified notebook PCs. SOLUTION: This extended unit 200 is provided with an LAN adapter with WOL function for LAN connection. Power is always fed to the LAN adapter 300 by an auxiliary power source 370 and it asserts a WOL signal in response to the reception of a wake-up packet via LAN. The extended unit 200 is provided with a WOL state register and a logic circuit. Thus, network security is provided for an information processing system. An information processing system-side can give an instruction for permitting or inhibiting WOL by writing a prescribed value in the WOL state register. When the logic circuit receives the WOL signal from the LAN adapter, it refers to the WOL state register. When wake-up is permitted, power supply is instructed to the notebook PC 100, and the WOL signal is ignored and WOL is not executed when wake-up is inhibited.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the various kinds of functions of a portable computer by providing a first docking device which is possible to be mechanically combined with a portable computer and has a connector and a second docking device which is possible to be mechanically combined with this first docking device and has the connector. SOLUTION: A first docking device 200 is provided with a first connector 221 which is possible to be mechanically combined and separated with/from a notebook computer 100, physically fits to the docking connector 130 on the side of the notebook computer 100 and matches in an electric specification. A second docking device 300 is provided with a third connector 321 which physically fits to the second connector 222 on the side of a second docking device 200 and matches in the electric specification. The second docking device 300 supplements the parts in which needs between respective users are not made common so much of the functions requested to a docking station.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system where DMA transfer is correctly executed even when DMA controllers exist in a self system and also in a docking station by adding the respective specified first and second DAM controllers and a control circuit. SOLUTION: This system includes a first and second DMA controllers where prescribed IO addresses are respectively assigned and the control circuit which responds to CPU 11 in place of the first and second DMA controllers when IO access to the prescribed IO address occurs. A bridge circuit 20 is constituted by adding the first DMA controller, an interrupting controller and a programmable interval timer. The bridge circuit 51 has almost the same configuration as the bridge circuit 20 at a PC side and also incorporates the second DMA controller for managing a DMA request and an interruption request which are generated on a secondary ISM bus 53 and an interruption controller.
