Abstract:
The present invention relates to a detector that detects a transmitted digital signature using the energy output from a matched filter. The energies are tabulated according to an anticipated signature pattern for variable transmission distances. The tabulation accounts for expected round trip transmission delays and allows processing of the accumulated symbols to derive a correct signature whether coherent or non-coherent signature coding is used and multiple Doppler channels are present.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for signaling information indicating performance requirements that a WTRU commits to satisfying from the WTRU to permit a more efficient allocation of radio resources and increase network capacity. The WTRU may signal information to the base station that includes performance requirements that the WTRU commits to satisfying, that includes a code or a field associated with at least one performance requirement. In another embodiment, the signaled information indicates a change in performance requirements committed to by the WTRU. In yet another embodiment, the WTRU signals channel quality measurements, such as channel quality indicator (CQI) report messages, to the base station, which in turn infers certain information regarding receiver performance based on the channel quality measurements.
Abstract:
A receiver which suppresses inter-cluster multipath interference by processing an impulse channel response consisting of two multipath clusters, each cluster having groups of signals with multiple delays. In one embodiment, the receiver includes a single antenna and parallel-connected delay units used to align the groups of signals before being input into respective sliding window equalizers. The outputs of the equalizers are combined at chip level via a combiner which provides a single output. In another embodiment, a Cluster Multipath Interference Suppression (CMIS) circuit is incorporated into the receiver. The CMIS circuit includes a hard decision unit and a plurality of signal regeneration units to generate replicas of the multipath clusters. The replicas are subtracted from the respective outputs of the delay units and the results are input to the respective sliding window equalizers. In another embodiment, multiple antennas are used to receive and process the clusters.
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for enhancing reception of wireless communication signals. A beam pattern including at least one set of beams is generated. Where the beam pattern includes at least two sets of beams, the beam sets may be offset with respect to each other and alternated to enhance reception. Beams may be selected for data processing based on a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and may be maximal-ratio combined where signals from a single WTRU are detected within more than one beam and are used for data processing.
Abstract:
A plurality of signals are received in a shared spectrum. Samples of the received user signals are produced as a received vector. The received vector is segmented into a plurality of segments. For each segment, successively determining symbols for each user or group of signals (the group of signals having similar received power) by determining symbols for one user/group and removing a contribution of that one user/group from the received vector. The determined symbols corresponding to each segment are assembled into a data vector.
Abstract:
A first detector receives a received signal and extracts the data signals from the received signal. A hard decision converter converts soft symbols outputted by the first detector into hard symbols. An interference canceller extracts the voice signals from the received signal. A second detector is connected to the output of the interference canceller, and extracts the individual voice signals. The second detector is a different detector type than the first detector.
Abstract:
A transmitting station performs closed loop power control prior to a transmission pause. A closed loop transmission power level prior to the pause is determined. A reference signal is received and a received power level of the reference signal prior to and during the transmission pause is determined. The measured reference signal received power levels are compared to a transmit power level of the reference signals to produce a pathloss estimate of the reference signal prior to and during the transmission pause. A new transmit power level is determined by adjusting the closed loop transmission power level by a change between the prior to and during pathloss estimates. A transmission power level of the transmitting station is set to the determined new transmit power level. A communication is transmitted at the set transmission power level.
Abstract:
K data signals, or bursts, are transmitted over a shared spectrum in a code division multiple access communication format. A combined signal is received and sampled over the shared spectrum, as a plurality of received vector versions. The combined signal includes the K transmitted data signals. A plurality of system matrices and an associated covariance matrix using codes and estimated impulse responses of the K data signals is produced. Each system matrix corresponds to a received vector version. The system and covariance matrices are extended and approximated as block circulant matrices. A diagonal matrix of each of the extended and approximated system and covariance matrices are determined by prime factor algorithm - fast Fourier transform (PFA-FFT) without division of the matrix. The received vector versions are extended. A product of the diagonal matrices and the extended received vector versions is taken. An inverse block discrete Fourier transform is performed by a PFA-FFT on a result of the product to produce the estimated data of the K data signals.
Abstract:
A transmitter site transmit a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum in a code division multiple access communication system. Each transmitted data signal experiences a similar channel response. A combined signal of the transmitted data signals is received. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of the chip rate. The channel response for the combined signal is determined. A first element of a spread data vector is determined using the combined signal samples and the estimated channel response. Using a factor from the first element determination, remaining elements of the spread data vector are determined. The data of the data signals is determined using the determined elements of the spread data vector.
Abstract:
A time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access transmits a plurality of data signals over a shared spectrum in a time slot. A combined signal is received over the shared spectrum in the time slot. The plurality of data signals are grouped into a plurality of groups. The combined signal is matched filtered based on symbol responses associated with the data signals of one of the groups. Data from each data signal in this one group is jointly detected. An interference signal is constructed based on the detected data, of this one group. The constructed interference signal is subtracted from the combined signal. Data from the other groups is detected by processing the subtracted signal.
