Abstract:
A method of data estimation for a Time Division Duplex (TDD) Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system or any other system using an extended algorithm (EA) in preference to a truncated algorithm (TA). The EA avoids implementation errors by choice of proper extended matrices, and accepts the use of one piece of hardware. The EA also obviates loss of multiple signals in the tail part of each data field (215), and avoids errors due to transformation of a Toeplitz matrix to a circulant matrix.
Abstract:
In a wireless digital communication system which may employ CDMA technology, a method (50) and system for obtaining channel quality (CQ) measurements for downlink resource allocation wherein a User Equipment (UE) (12) continuously measures RSCP (step) based on a communication on a reference channel provided by the network. The UE (12) measures timeslot ISCP (step 56) either continuously, by configuration or by rotation and reports downlink CQ (step 58). The UE (12) may report the RSCP once and the ISCP per timeslot, or may report some function of the RSCP/ISCP ratio such as modulation parameters or combined coding of all timeslots.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for estimating channelization codes in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using blind code detection (BCD). A WTRU receives communication bursts and detects a midamble [302] in the received burst. A candidate code list [304] is generated in accordance with the detected midamble. The candidate code list includes channelization codes intended for both the intended WTRU and other WTRUs [304]. Active channelization codes among the codes in the candidate list are identified, and the identified codes are forward to a multi-user detector (MUD) [308], The present invention resolves SF ambiguity in the download of TSM. Since the orthogonal variable spreading factor code maintains the orthogonal between codes of different SF, SFs of other WTRUs follow the SF of the inteneded WTRU. Moreover, since the data for other WTRUs is not used in symbol processing after MUD, the performance of MUD of the intended WTRU is preserved with the SF ambiguity of othter WTRUs.
Abstract:
A particular cell of a hybrid time division multiple access/code division multiple access communication system has a base station and a plurality of user requirement. Timeslots having unacceptable interference for the uplink are estimated. Timeslots having unacceptable interference for the downlink are estimated. An availability list is produced. The availability list indicates available uplink and downlink timeslots having acceptable interference levels. Uplink and downlink timeslots are assigned using the availability list.
Abstract:
A combined signal is received over a shared spectrum in a time slot in a time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access. Each data signal experiences a similar channel response. The similar channel response is estimated. A matrix representing a channel of the data signals based on in part the estimated channel response is constructed. A spread data vector is determined based on in part a fast fourier transform (FFT) decomposition of a circulant version of the channel matrix. The spread data vector is despread to recover data from the received combined signal.
Abstract:
The present invention is a system and method for use in a CDMA communication system including a plurality of base stations and a user equipment (UE), each for communicating with each other. The base station has a transmitter which includes a first and second antenna for transmitting a data field of symbols. The first spreading device spreads the first data field using a first channelization code and the second spreading device spreads the second data field using a second channelization code, each channelization code being uniquely associated with one of the first and second antennas. The UE has a receiver for receiving a signal including the first and second spread data fields. The UE includes a joint detection device for detecting the symbols of the first and second data fields using the first and second channelization codes and a decoder for decoding the detected data fields to generate a single data field of symbols.
Abstract:
The present invention has many aspects. One aspect of the invention is to perform equalization using a sliding window approach. A second aspect reuses information derived for each window for use by a subsequent window. A third aspect utilizes a discrete Fourier transform based approach for the equalization. A fourth aspect relates to handling oversampling of the received signals and channel responses. A fifth aspect relates to handling multiple reception antennas. A sixth embodiment relates to handling both oversampling and multiple reception antennas.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and system for controlling downlink transmission power levels in a spread spectrum time division communications system having frames with time slots for communication, which receives at a user equipment (UE) a downlink communication from a base station and determines an error rate of the received communication. The UE then produces power level adjustments for each of the time slots based in part on the error rate and transmits an uplink communication to the base station which includes the power level. In response to the power level adjustments and(or) other information, transmission power level is set for each time slot in the downlink communication.
Abstract:
Data of a time transmission interval is to be transmitted in a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system uses adaptive modulation and coding and has automatic repeat request mechanism. A transmission time interval has a plurality of transport block sets. The transport block sets are transmitted with a first specified modulation and coding scheme. Each transport block set is received and a determination is made as to whether the transport block sets meet a specified quality. When the specified quality is not met, a repeat request is transmitted. The specified modulation and coding scheme is changed to a second specified modulation and coding scheme that may support a reduced number of TBS's within the transmission time interval. In response to the repeat request, at least one of the transport block sets is retransmitted. The retransmitted transport block set is received. The retransmitted transport block set may be combined with a corresponding previously received transport block set.
Abstract:
A wireless time division duplex communication system using code division multiple access has a base station and user equipments. The system communicates using communication bursts. Each communication burst has a unique channelization code and a midamble code. Each midamble code is mapped to a set of at least one channelization code. For each communication burst to be transmitted in a time slot from the base station, the midamble code mapped to that burst's channelization code is determined. Communication bursts are generated and transmitted in the time slot. Each burst has the determined midamble code for its channelization code. The user equipment receives the bursts and determines each received midamble code. The user equipment determines the channelization codes of the transmitted communication bursts based on in part a result of the determining of each received midamble code.
