    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of a container by giving a triple structure of a pressure resisting container, an air flow resistor and an inner air flow resistor having smaller holes than the former resistor thereto and filling metallic-hydride forming metal paticles between the container and resistors. CONSTITUTION:An air flow resistor 2 is provided inside a pressure resisting container 1 and metallic particles are filled therebetween. An inner resistor 3 having smaller holes than the resistor 2 is provided inside the resistor 2 and a space 5 is formed between the resistors 2 and 3. Hydrogen is supplied through a hydrogen supply pipe 6, and reaches the particles 4 through the resistor 3, space 5 and resistor 2 to form a metallic hydride. Then, hydrogen is uniformed in pressure in the space 5 so that the particles 14 are uniformly hydrogenated while kept in the state of particles and the volume increase component generated by the expansion thereof escapes into an upper space.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The stress on a strain gage is measured to detect the hydrogenation reaction rate and the rate of hydrogen flow into the hydrogen-occluding alloy is controlled on the basis of the detection to ensure steady and prompt control of the hydrogenation eaction rate of the metal hydride. CONSTITUTION:The major vessel 1 is filled with an alloy for hydrogen occulsion 2 and simultaneously provided with the filter 7a for the hydrogen gas inlet 7 and with a detector 21 filled with the same kind of the alloy on the reaction side embeded, then the lead 27 for the strain gage 26 is passed from the major vessel 1 through the seal mechanism 28 to the outside of the vessel. The lead 27 is connected to the stress-strain gage 29 and the hydrogen reaction rage converter 30, hydrogen comparison controller 31 and flow-rate control valve 4 are electrically connected to form a controll circuit. The resultant system compares the value calculated by the hydrogenation reaction rate converter 30 with the previously set rate and the flow-rate control valve 4 is operated according to the deviation to control the gas flow rate of the hydrogen to be occulded appropriately.
