    Abstract: PURPOSE:To transport powder through a pipe in a floated state by disposing an inner pipe made of a porous material within a gas-tight outer pipe while supplying pressurized gas through the space between the outer and inner pipes so that it jets into the inner pipe. CONSTITUTION:An inner pipe 2 made of a porous material is disposed within a gas-tight outer pipe 1. The porous material forming the inner pipe is a sintered body of a metal, a ceramic or glass. In use, powder A is transported through the inner pipe 2 of this transporting system by making use of a pressure difference between the inlet and outlet produced by pressurization from the inlet side in the direction B or withdrawing from the outlet side in the direction C. At the same time, pressurized gas D is supplied to the space between the outer and inner pipes 1 and 2. As the pressurized gas D is transferred through the space between the outer and inner pipes over the entire transportation length, it intrudes through the micropores of the porous pipe 2 into the inner pipe to form a flowing layer of the pressurized gas. By this flowing gas layer the powder is carried and floated, so that it can be readily transported through the inner pipe.
