Abstract: In the invention a method is presented for ensuring operating safety in an elevator system, an elevator system, and a safety device of an elevator system. The elevator system comprises at least an elevator car, elevator ropes, an elevator motor, a traction sheave and at least two holding brakes, which holding brakes are arranged to prevent movement of the elevator car when the elevator is stopped. According to the invention the first holding brake (106,107) is engaged after elevator run has ended, and the other holding brakes (106,107) are engaged with a delay. When one holding brake is engaged when the elevator is stopped and empty, motor torque is increased to a certain limit and the state of motion of the elevator and any slipping of the brake is monitored. If the brake is detected as slipping, the torque at which slipping starts is registered and a procedure for preventing a hazardous situation is performed.

Abstract: Método para garantizar la seguridad de funcionamiento en un sistema de ascensor, que comprende al menos una cabina del ascensor, cuya cabina del ascensor esta soportada, al menos parcialmente, por medio de cables de tracción de ascensor, un motor de ascensor, una polea tractora para desplazar la cabina del ascensor mediante los cables de tracción de ascensor y al menos dos frenos de retención, cuyos frenos de retención están dispuestos de forma que impidan a la cabina del ascensor moverse cuando se pare el ascensor, caracterizado porque el método comprende las etapas siguientes: a. solamente un freno de retención (106, 107) se enclave al final de una carrera del ascensor y los demás frenos de retención se enclaven con retardo; b. el estado de movimiento del ascensor y cualquier resbalamiento del freno con solamente un freno de retención enclavado son vigilados y c. el arranque del motor se impide si el freno se detecta en resbalamiento en la etapa b.
