The invention relates to adrive machine (1) for an elevator, comprisinga motor module (10) comprising at least a motor (11), a drive shaft (12), and a first transmission wheel (13),which are provided with a common rotational axis and connected coaxially to each other. The drive machine (1) further comprises atraction module(20) comprisingat least a traction wheel (21) engageable with elevator hoisting ropes(40), and a second transmission wheel (22), which are provided with a common rotational axis (X2) and connected coaxially to each other.Themotor module(10) and the traction module(20) are positioned side by side with their rotational axes (X1, X2) parallel, such that the traction wheel (21) and the drive shaft (12) are side by side, and the first and second transmission wheels(13,22) are side by side, and in that the drive machine (1) further comprises an endless drive member (30) passing around the first and second transmission wheels(13, 22).The invention relates also to an elevator comprising said drive machine (1).

The invention relates to an elevator system and a method for reducing total power in an elevator system. According to the invention, the elevator system comprises at least one elevator without counterweight for moving people and/or goods, which elevator without counterweight comprises a power converter unit, an elevator motor, a traction sheave, a set of hoisting ropes and an elevator car, and which elevator system comprises means for storing mechanical energy and discharging an energy storage.

The object of the invention is a traction sheave elevator and a rope (3) that contains metal as a load-bearing material, such as the suspension rope of an elevator, which rope comprises at least one or more strands (7) laid from metal wires (9) and which rope (3) is lubricated with a lubricant (8). Another object is the use of the aforementioned lubricant for lubricating the rope (3). The lubricant (8) comprises at least oil and thickener, which thickener in the lubricant (8) comprises at least 10% or more of the mass of the lubricant (8).

Elevator arrangement, which comprises an elevator car (1), means for moving the elevator car (1), such as e.g. hoisting roping and a traction sheave machine, which elevator car (1) comprises a brake (2), and a movable mechanical detent (6) connected to the brake (2), by moving which detent (6) from a first position (I) to a second position (II) the brake is arranged to be moved into the braking position, and a movable mechanical detent (5) in the elevator hoistway, which detent is arranged to be moved into the path of passage of the detent (6) that is on the elevator car (1). The detent (6) is arranged to move in relation to the detent (5) in the lateral direction (x) and in the vertical direction (y) after the detents (5 and 6) hit each other.
