    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna array where beam forming/steering, MIMO and diversify operations are performed in transmitted/received signals, without having to use additional antennas. SOLUTION: The antenna array includes at least two antenna groups and each of the groups includes at least two pairs of antennas. Each of the pairs in one group includes orthogonally polarized antennas, and one antenna in a pair is polarized, in a way similar to one antenna in at least another pair in the group. The antenna array includes a circuit connected to the antenna group, to select and activate the prescribed antenna in one group, to enable the antenna array to operate in either a beam forming/steering mode, and a diversity mode or an MIMO mode or any combination thereof.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively increase data rate of individual users of the third generation communication system. SOLUTION: This communication system has a first base station using a load information of an adjacent base station for adaptively scheduling the transmission to a mobile device within a coverage area of the first base station. The first base station determines whether the adjacent base station generating the maximum interference to the mobile device has a load lower than the load threshold or not (namely, whether the adjacent base station is in the lower loading condition or not). When the first base station has determined that the adjacent base station is in a lower loading condition, the adjacent base station almost does not give any interference at that timing to the mobile device and the first base station can transmit a signal to the mobile device with a high priority order. When the first base station has determined that the adjacent base station is not in the lower loading condition, the adjacent base station is giving a sufficiently larger interference to the mobile device and therefore the transmission to the mobile device is given a lower priority order.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assign a data rate to a plurality of streams of information transmitted from a plurality of transmission apparatuses through a communication channel of a communication system. SOLUTION: This invention provides an assignment method of a data rate wherein a channel characteristic received by each stream is decided by using a correction incorporation limit and respective data rates are selected from a set (MCS) of modulation and encoding processed by a communication channel. That is, the method includes a step of applying a signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) to a code word error probability versus SNR curve to select a particular component of the modulation and encoding set having a particular data rate, a code word error probability, and a data rate to be assigned to a stream. The SNR is obtained by applying an upper limit with respect to the error probability of the stream to a symbol error provability versus SNR curve on the basis of an entire average of symbol groups used for the stream.     Abstract: An antenna array comprises at least two groups (101,103) of antennas where each group comprises at least two pairs of antennas (102, 104; 106, 108). Each of the pairs in a group contains orthogonally polarized antennas (102, 104) and at least one antenna (102) in a pair is similarly polarized to one antenna (106) in at least another pair in the group.
