    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent into a refrigerant before room side electric expansion values from being formed into a double phase by controlling the openings of the room side electric expansion valves to be adapted to changing characteristics of overheating levels when the overheating levels of outlet pipings at a plurality of room machines all exceed a specified value. CONSTITUTION:In this multi-room type air-conditioning apparatus, a plurality of room machines 6 (a-c) are connected in parallel to an outdoor machine 1. Here, the room machines 6 are the same in structure. For example, in the room machine 6a, the opening of a room side electric expansion valve 7a is computed by a first means 12a based on a room temperature detected by the means 9a and the temperature set by a means 10a. The opening of the expansion valve 7a is computed by a second means 13a to match changing characteristics of overheating levels when a refrigerant is cooled excessively. Moreover, the opening of the expansion valve 7a is computed by a third means 19a to match changing characteristics of overheating levels in a double-phase condition of the refrigerant. A switching is performed by a means 21a to the control by the third means 19a when an overheating level protection signal is outputted from a means 20 of the outdoor machine 1 and to the control by the second means 13a in other cases.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a room temperature from being disturbed and contrive an energy saving by a method wherein a degree of opening of an indoor electrical expansion valve and a frequency of a compressor having a variable capability are controlled in such a manner that over-heating and over-cooling of refrigerant are not produced. CONSTITUTION:The first target degree of opening of each of the indoor electrical expansion valves 27a to 27c is calculated by the first target degree of opening calculating means 32 in response to a deviation between the room temperatures detected by room temperature sensing means 29a to 29c and the target temperatures set by temperature setting means 30a to 30c. The second target degree of opening of each of the indoor electrical expansion valves 27a to 27c is calculated by the second target degree of opening calculating means 33 in response to a degree of over-heating of outlet pipes of the indoor heat exchangers 31a to 31c detected by the over-heating degree sensing means 28a to 28c. A fuzzy inference is carried out in response to these results, over-heating degrees detected by the over-heating degree sensing means 28a to 28c and a control rule taken out of the memory device 35 and then the degree of opening of each of the indoor electrical expansion valves 27a to 27c is determined in response to the result of the inference. A frequency of each of the compressors 22a and 22b having a variable capability is determined by comparing it with the predetermined frequency. With such an arrangement as above, each of the indoor units is controlled in response to the most-suitable degree of opening and the most-suitable frequency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a simultaneous operation of a cooling operation and a heating operation to be carried out by a method wherein two outdoor heat exchangers are selectively changed over between an evaporator and a condenser. CONSTITUTION:A four-way valve 22, the first two-way valve 27 and the second two-way valve 28 are provided, the first and second outdoor heat exchangers 23 and 25 are selectively changed over between an evaporator and a condenser and operated. Branch devices 40a to 40d are provided, and each of indoor devices 50a to 50d is individually operated for its cooling and heating operation. In the case that a ratio of the cooling operation to the heating operation at each of the indoor devices is close to one and evaporating and condensing capabilities at the outdoor heat exchanger required in the cooling or heating cycle, are small, the outdoor device heat exchanger 25 is stopped in its operation by closing the two-way valve 27, a degree of opening of an electric expansion valve 24 at the outdoor device is adjusted, a heat exchanging capability is reduced and the operation is carried out at the most suitable state. In the case that an indoor thermal load is reduced more than a minimum capability of a variable capability compressor 21 and the cycle operating point is displaced from its most suitable point, the two-way valve 28 is communicated with a suction pipe 31 to cause the heat exchanger 25 to be operated as the condenser and further to cause the heat exchanger 23 to be operated as the evaporator and then a freezing cycle is carried out at the most suitable point.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent an inlet pressure from excessively rising and prevent an outlet pressure from lowering by controlling the number of revolutions of an outdoor fan when an outside air temperature falls below a prescribed value or when upper/lower pressures satisfy prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:When an indoor heat load reduces in a cooling operation, indoor unit control means 13 open an indoor side motor-operated expansion valve 8. In this case, a pressure sensor 16 detects a reduction in an inlet pressure and indoor unit control means 12 reduces the number of revolutions of a variable capacity compressor 2 to restrict its capacity. At this time, an outlet pressure also lowers and, when it drops below a predetermined level, a pressure switch 17 detects this fact, outdoor unit control means 12 command outdoor fan control means 20 to reduce the number of revolutions of an outdoor fan 19 by one rank. Further, when a condensation pressure reduces due to a reduction in an outside air temperature in the operation and the outside air temperature falls below a prescribed value, an outside air temperature sensor 21 detects the outside air temperature, the pressure switch 17 of the indoor unit control means 12 commands the outdoor fan control means 20 to similarly reduce the number of revolutions of the outdoor fan 19 by one rank. Thus, the operation under an appropriate pressure condition can be performed.

In the event that a low volume operation of the indoor device is carried out, a degree of opening of the flow rate controlling mechanism 17 in the bypassing circuit 16 is controlled and at the same time a degree of opening of the second outdoor expansion valve 15 is controlled, thereby a capability of the outdoor heat exchanger 4 is controlled so as to enable a reduction in a high pressure to be restricted for a cooling operation and an increasing of the low pressure to be also restricted for a heating operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable a refrigerant cycle to be always controlled in an optimum state by a method wherein the maximum opening of a motor-operated indoor expansion valve at which a refrigerant at the outlet of a heat exchanger on the indoor side is brought into an optimum state is decided during rise operation, and a motoroperated indoor expansion valve is controlled in the range thereof. CONSTITUTION:During rise operation, the temperature of air passing a heat exchanger 9 on the indoor side and the temperature of an outlet piping 9A of the heat exchanger 9 on the indoor side are first compared with a set temperature and then compared with temperature detected by an air temperature sensor 15 by means of an indoor machine control means 13. Simultaneously, when a difference between an air temperature and a piping temperature is below a given temperature, for example, 15 deg., a motor- operated indoor expansion valve 8 is opened to a given opening. During rise operation for a given time, the indoor machine control means 13 effects decision at intervals of a given time from a temperature difference between detected air temperature and piping temperature, and the motor-operated indoor expansion valve 8 on the indoor side is operated and opened until conditions described above are satisfied. After the lapse of a given time, the current opening of the motor-operated expansion valve is set as a maximum valve opening during cooling operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable execution of normally stable cooling (heating) operation by adjusting a heat exchange capacity on the outdoor side to a value matching the number of operating indoor machines, by a method wherein the two refrigerant flow passages of a heat exchanger on the outdoor side are individually or simultaneously used at the total operation capacity of two capacity variable compressors interconnected in parallel. CONSTITUTION:Two-way valves 18a and 18b mounted to the inlet and the outlet of a heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side, and two-way valves 19a and 19b are similarly located to the inlet and the outlet of a heat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side. A ratio between the sizes of the heat exchangers A16 and B17 on the outdoor side is 1:2. When the capacity of an outdoor machine 1 is 10HP, the heat exchanger A16 on the outdoor side has a capacity equivalent to 3.3HP and the heat exchanger B17 on the outdoor side has a capacity equivalent to 6.7HP. As noted above, the heat exchangers A16 and B17 on the outdoor side different in a capacity are interconnected in parallel, and by controlling the two-way valves located to the respective inlets and the outlets, the two-way valves 18a, 18b, 19a and 19b are opened and closed according to the number of operation indoor machines 8 (a total operation horse power). By switching the heat exchangers A16 and B17 on the outdoor side, stable operation is practicable at normally proper indoor and outdoor heat exchange capacity. The control is effected by a control means 13 on the outdoor side by means of a compressor running mode.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent lowering of capacity by providing a valve opening correcting means for setting a larger opening than a preset opening only when a decision is made that an indoor unit has stopped during heating operation thereby eliminating deficiency of refrigerant in a refrigerant circuit under operation. CONSTITUTION: A multi-room air conditioner comprises a single outdoor unit 1, a plurality of indoor units 7 having a motor expansion valve 8 and an indoor heat exchanger 9, an operation detecting means 15, a cooling/heating detecting means 16, and a load detecting means 17 and a valve opening determining means 20 determines a specified opening for a motor expansion valve 8a of an indoor unit 7' detected to be under operation based on the load and the frequency under control of a valve opening controller 21a. A valve opening correcting means 24 corrects the opening of a motor expansion valve 8b in an indoor unit 7'b temporarily to a large value only when transition from operation to stoppage is detected for the first time by the means 15, 16 under control of a valve opening controlling means 22b. Consequently, refrigerant standing in the heat exchanger of a stopping indoor unit is returned back to an operating refrigerant circuit periodically.
