    Abstract: Herein disclosed are an .alpha.-(aminocyclohexyl)alkylamine represented by the following general formula (II): (II) wherein R represents hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms, provided that the amino group bonded to the cyclohexyl group may be in either of the 2-, 3- and 4-positions and a method for preparing it; an .alpha.-(isocyanatocyclohexyl)alkylisocyanate of Formula (II) wherein the amino groups are replaced with isocyanato groups and a method for preparing it; polyisocyanato-isocyanurate represented by the following general formula (IV): (IV) wherein R1, R2 and R3 may be the same or different and each represents a group represented by the following general formula: wherein R represents hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms and n is an integer ranging from 1 to 5 and a method for preparing it; and a resin obtained by polymerizing an organic polyisocyanate containing not lower than 10% by weight of the polyisocyanato-isocyanurate represented by Formula (IV) and a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms as well as a resin composition for coating materials which comprises the resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a novel compound useful as a curing agent for a epoxy resin, a polyurethane or a polyurea and a raw material for a polyamide, a polyimide and a polyimide-amide, producible in a high purity and high yield. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R1 is 1-5C alkyl; R2 is H or methyl) such as 1-(3'-aminophenyl)-1-(2'',4''-diamino-5''-methylphenyl)ethane. The compound is obtained by condensing an alpha-(aminophenyl)alkyl alcohol of formula II with an aromatic diamine in the presence of an acid catalyst (preferably hydrochloric acid) preferably at 120-220 deg.C. The alpha-(aminophenyl)alkyl alcohol is preferably obtained by nitrating an alpha-(phenyl)alkyl alcohol and catalytically reducing or nitrating an alkyl phenyl ketone and catalytically reducing the nitrated nitro compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the microcapsule having excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance by using a polycyclic aliphat. diisocyanate and/or a polyisocyanate having an oxadiazinoe ring structure. CONSTITUTION:A microcapsule film is formed by reaction of the polyisocyanate and a compd. having active hydrogen atoms. The polyisocyanate is the polycyclic aliphat. diisocyanate expressed by formula I and/or the polyisocyanate expressed by formula II. In the formula I, k denotes an integer from 1 to 2, j and m from 1 to 5 and h from 0 to 2. In the formula II, n denotes an integer from 1 to 5; R1, R2 denote 2 to 12C alkylene group or the group expressed by formula III; among which at least one is the group expressed by the formula III. In the formula III, k denotes an integer from 1 to 2, j and m from 1 to 5 and h from 0 to 2. Consequently, the microcapsule having the excellent heat resistance and solvent resistance is produced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as a hardener for epoxy resin, etc., in high purity and yield under mild condition by catalytically hydrogenating an alicyclic mononitrile compound using a platinum oxide catalyst in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula II (e.g. aminomethylcyclohexane) is produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of a compound of formula I (R1 is halogen or 1-10C alkyl; (m) is 0-9; (n) is 0 or 1) (e.g. 4-cyanocyclohexene or 4-methyl-4-cyanonorbornene) in the presence of an organic carboxylic acid (preferably aliphatic carboxylic acid, especially acetic acid) using a platinum oxide catalyst at 15-60 deg.C (especially 25-35 deg.C). The compound of formula II is expected to exhibit unique performance as a hardener for maleimide, polyurethane and polyurea. It can be converted to a monoisocyanate by phosgenation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject room temperature curing type epoxy resin composition, excellent in operating efficiency and characteristics, especially heat resistance of cured products without any toxicity by using a new alpha-(aminocyclohexyl) alkylamine as a curing agent for the epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective epoxy resin composition is obtained by using a new alpha-(aminocyclohexyl)alkylamine [e.g. alpha-(3-aminocyclohexyl)methylamine] expressed by the formula (R is H or 1-5C alkyl; NH2 directly bound to the cyclohexyl is at the 3-or 4-position) as a curing agent for the epoxy resin. Furthermore, the blending ratio of the epoxy resin to the curing agent is preferably 100:(15-30) (wt.%).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an alpha-(aminocyclohexyl)alkylamine in high yield by the catalytic reduction of an alpha-(aminophenyl)alkylamine in the presence of a Ru catalyst, water and an alkali or alkaline-earth metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula II can be produced by carrying out the catalytic reduction of a compound of formula I (R is H or 1-5C alkyl; the substitution site of NH2 on the phenyl group is 2-, 3- or 4-) at 80-150 deg.C under a hydrogen pressure of 30-80 kg/cm in the presence of a Ru catalyst, water and an alkali or alkaline-earch metal hydroxide. The starting compound of formula I is produced by the reducing amination and hydrogenation of a compound of formula III. The compound of formula II is useful as a curing agent for epoxy resin, polyurethane or polyurea, a raw material for polyamide, a precursor of di-isocyanate, an optical resolution agent, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the microcapsule having an excellent static pressure resistance and wear resistance by bringing a hydrophobic core material contg. an isocyanate modified epoxy resin obtd. by reaction of a specific epoxy resin and a polyisocyanate compd. into reaction with polyvalent amine at a liquid-drop boundary, thereby forming the film. CONSTITUTION:The hydrophobic core material contg. an isocyanate modified epoxy resin obtd. by reaction of an epoxy resin expressed by the formula (R denotes hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a halogen atom; n denotes an integer from 0 to 2) and a polyisocyanate compd. is emulsified or dispersed in the water phase and reacted with a polyvalent amine at the liquid-drop boundary, thereby the film is formed. This isocyanate modified epoxy resin has good solubility in a hydrophobic liquid for pressure-sensitive copying paper and has no problems in emulsifiability. The microcapsule formed by using this resin as a film material does not lower coloring density and has the extremely high static pressure resistance and wear resistance.
