Abstract:
A method of providing information storage by means of Automatic Speech Recognition through a communication device of a vehicle comprises establishing a voice communication between an external source and a user of the vehicle, receiving information from the external source, processing the received information using an Automatic Speech Recognition unit in the vehicle and storing the recognized speech in textual form for future retrieval or use.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for rapidly providing activity on a vehicle network bus (12,Fig.1) includes a node (TCU 14, Fig.1) having a bus connection to the vehicle network bus. The node (TCU 14, Fig.1) includes a Rapid Response Stack (24, Fig.1) loaded with the predetermined message to respond to any network bus request before the application is up and running. A true stack is loaded with real messages from the application once it is booted up and running on the node, whereupon the application subsequently responds to network bus requests using the true stack instead of the Rapid Response Stack.
Abstract:
A client device in a communication system having a service center. The client device includes a microcomputer and a wireless communication device. The microcomputer may generate a message and determine whether the message includes high-priority data. The wireless communication device has the capability of transmitting the message to the service center over each of a plurality of bearer services. The microcomputer then sequentially selects to transmit the message over each of the plurality of bearer services according to a first sequential order until the message is transmitted to the service center if the message includes high-priority data. Alternatively, the microcomputer sequentially selects to transmit the message over each of the plurality of bearer services according to a second sequential order until the message is transmitted to the service center if the message does not include high-priority data. There are also methods of performing these functions in the client device.
Abstract:
A system and method for managing content between different client devices in various domains (such as vehicle, home, and person) includes a user interface, a wireless transceiver, and a controller. The user interface receives an input from a user to change the presentation of the content from a first client device to a second client device. The wireless transceiver wirelessly transmits the input from the user through the communication system. The controller, responsive to the input from the user, determines a content format for the second device. The controller may also determine whether the second device has a network capability for accessing the content format. If the second device has the network capability for accessing the content format, the controller transmits a data message to the second device to activate access to the content; otherwise, the controller obtains the content and transmits the obtained content to the second device.
Abstract:
A system (20) and method of calculating an estimated time of arrival for a traveler is provided, along with a notification of this estimated time that is sent to a third party. The traveler is equipped with a navigation unit (22). The navigation unit (22) communicates with a service center (24) equipped with a server capable of generating a preferred navigational route for the traveler. Once the traveler has selected a predetermined time and frequency of notifications based upon a selected criterion, the navigation unit (22) transmits the traveler's position and velocity to the service center (24). The service center (24) then calculates the estimated time of arrival based upon the traveler's position, velocity, distance to be traveled and traffic (32) and weather conditions. the service center (24) sends a notification to the third party.
