Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and apparatus for communication of notifications.SOLUTION: A method comprises sending a primary message including data indicating notification status information, and sending notification messages apart from the primary message addressed to specific groups of devices. A method for obtaining notifications in a device from a server includes monitoring the primary message including current notification status information, comparing the current notification status information with a previous notification status information to determine if a change in notification status information has occurred, and obtaining addressed notification status information when a change in the notification status information has been determined. By using a primary message with abbreviated information to communicate whether changes to notification status information have occurred without the need for further processing and/or addressed notification messages, system resources can be conserved.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimum delivery of a multicast content using probabilistic feedback. SOLUTION: This method is provided for transmitting data from a server to a plurality of receiving terminals. The method includes transmitting the data from the server to the plurality of receiving terminals, and generating a random response value at each receiving terminal. The method also includes comparing the response value to an acknowledgement value at each receiving terminal, and transmitting an acknowledgment signal to the server from selected receiving terminals. The selected receiving terminals are a portion of the plurality of receiving terminals where the response value has a selected relationship to the acknowledgement value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for data packet transport in a wireless communication system using an internet protocol.SOLUTION: Provided is a method and apparatus for data packet transport in a wireless transmission system supporting broadcast transmissions. A trigger recognized at the transmission node initiates a broadcast transmission, and the resultant setup of a transmission path. A termination trigger then indicates that the transmission node is not serving users desiring the broadcast transmission, and in response the transmission path is shut down. In one embodiment, a multi-cast call, such as a group call, may be transmitted to active users via uni-cast channel(s) or multi-cast channel(s) based on predetermined criteria, such as the number of active users.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for video-encoding and decoding channel switch frames (CSF) to enable acquisition and re/synchronization of a video stream while preserving compression efficiency.SOLUTION: Systems and methods to process multimedia data enabling channel switching are presented. The systems generate a CSF with one or more network abstraction layer (NAL) units as a random access point (RAP) frame. Back-to-back frames are transmitted which include the CSF and a non-RAP frame, each having the same frame ID number.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve conveying a content delivery schedule to mobile terminals.SOLUTION: There are provided methods and apparatus for conveying a delivery schedule to mobile terminals. In an aspect, a method is provided that includes receiving a contact window that describes a time interval when a content clip will be available on a distribution network, determining one or more clips of interest, determining that the content clip matches at least one of the one or more clips of interest, and scheduling a receiving time to receive the content clip within the time interval. An apparatus is provided that includes scheduling logic configured to determine that a content clip matches one or more clips of interest and to schedule a receiving time to receive the content clip within a contact window.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of using a probabilistic feedback to optimize a distribution of a multicast content about the content distribution, within a network environment. SOLUTION: The method is provided for transmitting data from a server to a plurality of receiving terminals. The method includes the processes of transmitting the data from the server to the plurality of the receiving terminals and generating a random response value by each receiving terminal. The method, further, includes a processing of comparing the response value with acknowledged value by each receiving terminal, and to transmit an acknowledgment signal from the selected receiving terminal to the server. The selected receiving terminal is a part of the plurality of the receiving terminals in which the response value has a selected relation with respect to the acknowledged value.
