Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for delivering group communication data such as push-to-talk (PTT) setup data to a dormant wireless telecommunication device across a control channel on a wireless communication network regarding asynchronous signaling in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: Each wireless telecommunication device can direct a single group communication stream to a designated target group of other wireless telecommunication devices. The wireless telecommunication device has a dormant state that the wireless telecommunication device bridges the control channel with a communication server and an active state that the wireless telecommunication device bridges a dedicated communication channel with the communication server. The wireless telecommunication device receives group communication setup data though the control channel for incoming group communication. Such delivery occurs without fully bridging the dedicated communication channel to the wireless telecommunication device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for adaptively bundling media frames in a data packet for transmission in a wireless data network. SOLUTION: When a wireless device is ready to transmit an audio communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a communication server. The communication server checks for network usage conditions and adaptively determines the bundling factor for the audio communication. The bundling factor is transmitted to the wireless device, and the wireless device bundles media frames into a data packet, in accordance with the bundling factor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for terminating a member from a group call in a group communication network. SOLUTION: A client receives an indication from a user who wishes to terminate participation in the group communication network and sends a request to terminate the user from the group call to a server. Further, the server receives the request to terminate the user from the group call, terminates the user from the group call, and sends a response indicating that the user is terminated from the group call to the client. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for reducing both of an apparent PTT (push-to-talk) wait time experienced by a transmitter and a whole time necessary to establish the traffic channels of participating mobile stations again without having an adverse effect on system capacity, service life of a client's battery, and other resources. SOLUTION: A method and apparatus for terminating a member from a group call in a group communication network includes a step of receiving a direction from a user who wants to terminate participation in the group communication network and to transmit to a server a request to terminate a user's participation from the group call. Further, the method and apparatus includes the step that the server receives the request to terminate the user from the group call, terminates the user from the group call, and transmits the response to the effect that the user has been terminated from the group call. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network. SOLUTION: A member list is received from a user and then a request is sent to a server to add the member list to an active group call (1304). It is announced to each member in the member list that one has been added to the group call (1312). When an acknowledgement is received from a member who wishes to participate in the group call (1314), medium is forwarded to the member (1314). In addition, the actual total dormant-wakeup time and latency can be markedly reduced by exchanging group call signaling, even when mobile stations are dormant and no traffic channel is active. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for delivering media to a group of target communication devices. SOLUTION: A group communication server significantly reduces network traffic and media processing time by transmitting a single copy of media destined for a group of target reception stations to a wireless infrastructure over a multicast path. The wireless infrastructure replicates and transmits one copy of the media to each of the plurality of target reception stations that are assigned to dedicated channels, or multicasts one copy of the media to the plurality of target reception stations that are assigned to a shared channel. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of setting up a communication session within a wireless communications system.SOLUTION: An originating communication device 132 within a wireless communications system sends a call request 600 to a server 134 to initiate a communication session with a target communication device 138, and also sends, along with the call request, a session description request. The server sends (615) a call announce message and alerting data to the target communication device. The target communication device receives the call announce message and the alerting data, notifies a user of the target communication device of the announced communication session, and outputs the alerting data to the user of the target communication device in association with the notification.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for efficient data distribution to a group of users.SOLUTION: In one aspect, the method includes detecting one or a plurality of requests for information, determining whether the information is broadcast, and transmitting the information by broadcast transmission based upon the determination. In another aspect, a device is provided which distributes the information. The device includes a detector configured to detect the one or plurality of requests for the information, a determination module configured to determine whether the information is broadcast, and a transmitter configured to transmit the information by broadcast transmission based upon the determination.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for enabling fast setup for push-to-talk (PTT) communications in a wireless communication network. SOLUTION: A mobile device communicates with a wireless communication network through a signaling channel and a data channel. At a radio signal transmission point, a data packet including a PTT message is received from a data communication network, and the data packet is checked. When the PTT message in the data packet is a set-up related message, the PTT message is transmitted to the mobile device through the signaling channel. Further, when the PTT message in the data packet is not the set-up related message, the radio signal transmission point transmits the PTT message to the mobile device through a dedicated access channel. Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adaptively bundling media frames in a data packet for transmission in a wireless data network. When a wireless device is ready to transmit an audio communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a communication server that checks for network usage conditions and adaptively determines a bundling factor for the audio communication. The bundling factor is transmitted to the wireless device, and the wireless device bundles media frames into a data packet according to the bundling factor.
