Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for synchronization signal (SS) blocks in which synchronization signals and broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted. Broadcast channel transmissions may be demodulated using SS transmissions, reference signal transmissions, or combinations thereof. Broadcast channel transmissions may be transmitted in a subset of SS block time resources, and synchronization signals may be transmitted in another subset of SS block time resources. Reference signals may be transmitted using tones within the broadcast channel time resources, and may be transmitted at a higher density for portions of the broadcast channel transmission bandwidth that are outside of the SS transmission bandwidth. Waveforms for reference signal transmissions, and information provided by reference signal transmissions may be provided.

The base station may transmit a control message to a set of user equipments (UEs) using a directional transmission having a first beamform width. The base station may exchange, according to the control message, data messages with a first UE of the set of UEs using a directional transmission having a second beamform width. The second beamform width may be different from the first beamform width. The base station may exchange, according to the control message, data messages with a second UE of the set of UEs using a directional transmission having a third beamform width. The third beamform width may be different from the first beamform width, the second beamform width, or both.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for efficient signaling of feedback regarding communications of a relaying operation. In some aspects, a relay node may defer feedback regarding reception of a first communication until relaying feedback regarding the payload of the first communication, thereby reducing overhead and signaling burden. In some aspects, a relay node may skip the transmission of feedback regarding the first communication altogether, either on the assumption that the link between the relay node and the first wireless node is reliable, or on the basis of the first wireless node being able to infer the reception of the first communication based on subsequent communications. In some aspects, a relay node may be enabled to skip forwarding of feedback from a second wireless node, such that the first wireless node can infer that the payload was received if no negative feedback associated with the payload is received.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for addressing switching times of Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) child nodes. For example, a parent IAB node may determine a switching time for the child IAB node to switch from transmitting on a backhaul/uplink to a parent node (with transmit power control) to transmitting on an access/downlink to a user equipment (UE) or other child IAB node. The parent IAB node may then configure the IAB child node according to the determined switching time (e.g., by scheduling the IAB child node accordingly or setting one or more timing advance parameters).
