Abstract: A battery pack (1) is connected to an external device (9) and to a power supply circuit (10) for the external device (9), and it energizes the external device (9) or is charged by the power supply circuit (10). An analog circuit (12) and a microcomputer (11) inside the battery pack (1) detect an ON/OFF state of the external device (9) and execute control in such a manner as to effect charging by the balance of power obtained by subtracting the maximum power consumption of the external device (9) from the total capacity of the power supply circuit (10) under the ON state and to effect charging by full use of the supply power from the power supply circuit (10) under the OFF state. This charge/discharge control is executed when the microcomputer (11) makes ON/OFF control of a charging switch (S1), a discharging switch (S2) and a switch (S4).

Abstract: The battery pack (1) is connected to an external device (9) and to a power supply circuit (10) for the external device (9), and it energizes the external device (9) or is charged by the power supply circuit (10). Communication is made between a microcomputer (11) inside the battery pack (1) and the external device (9) through terminals (8) and at least information representing a present residual charge of a battery (4) is transmitted from the microcomputer (11) to the external device (9). This residual charge is calculated by the microcomputer (11) using the current, voltage, internal resistance and temperature of the battery (4). In this way, the residual charge can be obtained with a high level of accuracy on the side of the external device (9).

A common housing (4) may contain the video playback and video recording units (38, 39), the sub-picture signal former (55), the switch (63) and the sub-picture/main picture signal combining circuit (53).

Abstract: A battery pack having a detection aperture formed along a center line of a bottom surface arranged such that the detection aperture is engaged with a convexed portion of a battery charger. Therefore, whether or not the battery pack is properly attached to the battery charger can easily be detected. Further, a battery pack is arranged such that an aperture is formed on an outer surface of the battery pack and an output terminal is inwardly disposed on the aperture. Therefore, damage to the batteries in the battery pack caused by a short-circuit resulting from products made of conductive metal material such as key ring, necklace, chain or the like contacting the respective ends of the output terminals disposed on the outer surface of the battery pack can be prevented. Furthermore, a battery pack is arranged such that an aperture for discharging dusts or the like is formed on a bottom portion of a hole into which an electrode is disposed. Therefore, the accumulation of dusts or the like in the hole that is formed on the outer surface of the battery pack so as to dispose therein the electrode can be prevented. SON401.APP

Abstract: PATENT 390100.2115 APPARATUS FOR EDITING VIDEO TAPES Dual video recording/reproducing apparatus includes a video playback unit, a video recording unit having recording circuitry for recording a video output signal from the video playback unit, as well reproducing circuitry for reproducing a video signal, and a sub-picture signal former responsive to a video signal supplied thereto for providing a sub-picture signal adapted to be displayed as a sub-picture insert of a main picture. A switch couples either the video output from the video playback unit or the video output from the reproducing circuitry included in the video recording unit to the sub-picture signal former. The video signal which is not coupled to the sub-picture signal former constitutes the main picture signal; and the sub-picture and main picture signals are combined to form a display signal which, when displayed, produces a main picture and a sub-picture insert. A common housing contains the video playback and video recording units, the sub-picture signal former, the switch and the sub-picture/ main picture signal combining circuit.
