    Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing device for a disk enclosed in a cassette is disclosed. The device in comprised of a chassis, bearing members included in the chassis, a spindle mounted by these bearing members for rotation with respect to the chassis, a magnet holder mounted to the spindle, a rotor magnet mounted to the magnet holder and rotatable with respect to be chassis, a substrate affixed to the chassis, a stator coil mounted in the confronting relation to the rotor magnet on the base board, a turntable mounted to the upper part of the spindle, and a cassette holder mounted on the chassis and which is movable, for mounting the disk cassette to the turntable, between an inoperative position to be assumed when the disk cassette is inserted into or detached from the recording and/or reproducing device and an operative position to be assumed when the disk cassette is mounted on the turntable.

    Abstract: Apparatus is provided for indicating the amount of tape wound upon a reel, such as a supply reel or a take-up reel, in a two-reel cartridge when the cartridge is loaded into a processing device of the type which includes a loading device for withdrawing from the cartridge a portion of the tape wound upon the reel. A signal is generated representing the angular velocity of the reel when that reel rotates in response to the withdrawal of tape from the cartridge. This generated signal is combined with predetermined signals representing predetermined characteristics of the tape, the combined signals then being used to indicate the amount of tape which is wound upon the reel. In a preferred embodiment, the predetermined signals are: v, the velocity of the tape as it is unwound from the reel; delta , the thickness of the tape; RH, the diameter of the innermost winding of the tape upon the reel; and the signal which represents the angular velocity of the tape is PS. A micro-processor having an arithmetic section combines, or operates upon these signals in accordance with the expression wherein TS is the amount of tape wound upon the reel in terms of time. A particular application of this apparatus is in a video tape recorder having a guide drum about which the withdrawn portion of tape is deployed during the loading thereof, the amount of tape remaining in the cartridge for recording or playback being indicated by this apparatus.

    Abstract: 1426075 Electronic calculator display unit SONY CORP 25 Jan 1973 [31 Jan 1972] 3886/73 Heading G4H An electronic calculator has a display device blanking circuit (30, Fig. 3, not shown) which switches off the display to reduce eye strain during arithmetic operations when the arithmetic results are constantly changing. Further blanking periods may be provided to allow dispersion of ions produced in the display. Numeral and operation keyboard 1 is connected via arithmetic section 2 to memory 3 which includes a shift register and a memory register. Control circuit 4 receives operation key signals, and cathode driving circuit 5 (including the blanking circuit) is connected to a segmented multi-cathode indicator 8. Clock pulse generator 6 feeds anode driver 7 which drives the digit anodes successively for a predetermined time based upon generator 6 signal. The arithmetic section (Fig. 2) has registers 11, 12, full adder 13, a 4-bit buffer 14, a compensation signal generator 16 for producing a corrective "6" on carry and its detector 17. These connect to decoder 18, encoder 19 and cathodes 20a-20g of indicator 8.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic head from being broken at the time of inserting and ejecting a disk cassette into and from a cassette holder. CONSTITUTION:At the time of ejecting the disk cassette, a step motor 4 is controlled by a head position control circuit 31, and hence a head carriage 6 is driven so that magnetic heads 9 and 10 are moved to the side of an innermost circumferential position P4 on a disk 1, and afterward, the cassette holder is moved back to a cassette inserting position from a cassette loading position. At the time of inserting and ejecting the disk cassette into and from the cassette holder, even when the tip of the cassette holder on the side of inserting the cassette is pressed down unexpectedly, since the magnetic heads 9 and 10 are located on the side of the innermost circumferential position P4, a lowering amt. of a head arm 8 is small, and the magnetic head 9 and the disk cassette do not collide with each other so that the magnetic head 9 can be prevented from being broken.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent data from being erroneous due to crosstalk and to make high- speed access possible, by performing decision for the address, tracking, and so on before a rotary head scans the objective data track. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic tape 10 where address information, tracking information, and so on are recorded previously on tracks 17 and 16 along the upper end and the lower end is used, and tape 10 in the stationary state is scanned obliquely by rotary heads 13E, 13W and 13R arranged on the outside circumference of drums 11 and 12 which are provided in the running path of this tape 10. Then, tape 10 is caused to run up to objective data track 19 intermittently, and tape feed is completed during one rotation of rotary head 13, and further, signals reproduced from tracks 17 and 16 are used to perform decision for the address, tracking, and so on before the rotary head scans this data track 19.
