Abstract: The present invention relates to a track address pattern suitable for being applied to a magnetic disk apparatus which positions a head to a track with a desired address by a sector servo system, for example, wherein a gray code of a plurality of bits corresponding to a track address of the magnetic disk apparatus is divided per 2 bits thereof into groups, the respective groups of 2 bits are converted into codes of 3 bits (001), (010), (100) and (111) depending on the values thereof, respectively, whereby the converted codes are recorded on the magnetic disk obtained by extending the gray code with a ratio of 2 : 3 is recorded on the magnetic disk by satisfying such a condition that a run-length is a finite number and so on, so that a code rate (an amount of original data/an amount of data on the magnetic disk) is increased with decreasing a ratio of an address pattern to thereby increase an amount of normal data to be recorded and also increase a speed of the seek operation at a high-speed seek operation. Further, the present invention intends to attain the similar effects by a manner that a code of 1 bit is converted into codes (C11, C10) of 2 bits according to a predetermined rule and codes of (m - 1) bits are converted into codes (C2m-1, C2m-2, ..., C21, C20) of m bits according to a predetermined rule, whereby a code which is converted from the gray code of m bits into a code of (m + 2) bits is recorded on the magnetic disk the track address pattern. Furthermore, the present invention intends to attain the similar effects by combining the above-described 2 : 3 conversion and the (m - 1) : m conversion.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently perform the tracking control with a high precision by using two servo tracks for one arbitrary phase and one servo track for each phase of the position detection signal of a magnetic head formed on a magnetic disk to correct the detection error. CONSTITUTION:Servo tracks TS1 and TS0 having a try bit servo pattern are formed in the innermost periphery and the outermost periphery of each of respective disk faces 3A to 3D of, for example, two magnetic disks 3, and four servo tracks TS1M to TS4M are formed in an about center of the data area of each of these disk faces. An extent of off-track correction required for a pertinent recording track is calculated based on the inclination (distribution) of the extent of off-track obtained from tracks TS0 and TS1 and respective reference extents of off-track of detection signals DET1 to DET4 obtained from tracks TS1M to TS4M and is outputted to a D/A converter 35 to minutely shift a magnetic head 4A, and the head just tracks a desired recording track on the disk face 3A.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the application efficiency of a tape, by recording address information and a tracking detecting signal in tracks along the upper and lower ends on the tape where data is recorded on a track extending in the transverse direction. CONSTITUTION:On tape recording medium 10 where data is recorded in the first track 19 extending in the transverse direction, prescribed signals which are address information as well as tracking detecting information for the first track 19 are recorded in the second tracks 17 and 16 in the longitudinal direction along one or both of the upper and lower ends. For example, servo track 17 and address track 16 are provided along the upper and lower ends of magnetic tape 10 which is in the stationary state scanned obliquely by the rotary head. Then, the tracking state is detected by change of the amplitude of the reproduced output at the scanning time of tracks 17 and 16 (the reproduced output becomes as shown in figures D and E when the scanning locus moves as shown in broken line 18').

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a mixture of the erasing signal into the write signal in a simple constitution, by providing a short-circuiting means to reduce the impedance of the reproduced signal transmission line between a reproduction head and a reproduction amplifier in an erasion mode. CONSTITUTION:A rotary head consists of the reading, erasing and writing heads 5R, 5E and 5W. A transistor 18 gives a short circuit to the secondary side coil of a boosting transformer 13 when a writing and erasing are carried out between a reproduction amplifier 14 and the head 5R by supplying the control signal ENB to the base. A coil 11R of a rotary transformer is provided between oils 11E and 11W which receive a similar short circuit. Thus the erasing signal is supplied to the coil 11E by a stator, and the counter electromotive force is produced when the leaked magnetic flux passes through the coil 11R. Then the leaked magnetic flux of the erasing signal affects the coil 11W to prevent a mixture of the erasing signal into the write signal.
