    Abstract: In a color television camera having a target structure which is scanned by an electron beam and on which is projected an image of an object in the field of view of the camera; the target structure comprises first and second groups of photoconductive elements, such as diodes, preferably formed in a semiconductor substrate and being arrayed in lines extending in the line scanning direction and rows extending at substantial angles to the lines, with the lines of the first group of diodes being alternated with the lines of the second group of diodes, color filter elements corresponding to the diodes, respectively, and being disposed between the latter and the object for forming color components of the projected image on the respective diodes, first electrodes connected to the first and second groups, respectively, of the diodes for applying to the latter an alternating signal having phase alternation by line and for picking-up a color video signal corresponding to the projected image in response to the conversion by said diodes of light projected thereon into an electrical output when scanned by the electron beam, and second electrodes arranged generally in the direction of the rows of diodes for receiving an alternating signal having phase alternation by field and for picking-up an index signal corresponding with the arrangement of the second electrodes along the line being scanned and having phase alternation by field. The color video signal and index signal thus formed are combined in a composite signal which is supplied to circuits by which the index signal is employed for deriving the individual color signals from the color video signal.

    Abstract: A transformer having primary and secondary windings on a conductive non-magnetic bobbin. A pot-type core surrounds the bobbin and windings and has a central magnetic core extending axially into the bobbin and windings. Flanges on the bobbin separate the primary from the secondary, and the flanges and bobbin have a slot to limit induction current losses. The secondary is center-tapped, and the flanges and conductive, non-magnetic outer case prevent electric field coupling and suppress leakage at the center tap.

    Abstract: 1294402 Colour television SONY CORP 20 Feb 1970 [20 Feb 1969] 8234/70 Heading H4F Registration of the images picked up by two image pick-up tubes such as vidicon 2a, Fig. 1, which produced a luminace signal and vidicon 2b which produces with the aid of colour striped filter 11 and lens screen 12 a phase- or frequencymodulated colour signal including red, green and blue information, is affected by demodulating the colour signal in process amplifier 5b and forming in addition to R, G and B signals a second luminance signal which is subtracted, 7, from the luminance signal from vidicon 2a, and the resulting difference signal, if any, is displayed on monitor 8. If there is no disagreement in position of the images on vidicons 2a and 2b, no picture is reproduced on monitor 8. Any disagreement causes a picture to be produced on monitor 8, and this disagreement may be removed by adjusting the centring circuit 10 associated with vidicon 2a to extinguish the picture on the monitor. The centring circuit may comprise a vertical centring coil, the D.C. through which may be manually varied, and a circuit in which the amount of D.C. superimposed on the horizontal deflection coil may be manually varied. Alternatively the deflection coils of one vidicon may be mechanically moved. Monitoring tube may be dispensed with and the output of the subtraction circuit arranged to automatically control the centring circuit to maintain registration between the two images.

    Abstract: Successive scenes or fields of color picture information are recorded by exposing successive frames or portions of an elongated strip of radiant energy-sensitive record medium, for example, monochrome photographic film, to radiant energy in the form of light or an electron beam, and modulating the radiant energy for recording, in each of the frames or record medium portions information representing a composite signal which contains luminance and chrominance signals and an index signal having the same frequency as the color carrier for the chrominance signal and with the phase of either the index signal or the chrominance signal carrier, but not both, being reversed for successive color picture fields, that is in successive frames. In reproducing the recorded color picture information, the information recorded in the successive frames or record medium portions is detected to simultaneously reproduce first and second composite signals corresponding to two successive color picture fields, the chrominance and index signals are separated together from the first and second reproduced composite signals and added and subtracted to provide the chrominance signal and the index signal separate from each other, and the separated index signal is then employed to demodulate the chrominance signal and thereby provide color difference signals which, with the luminance signal separated from one of the reproduced composite signals, define a respective color picture.

    Abstract: A color television camera utilizing a vidicon tube that has a filter in the form of alternate stripes for the primary colors red, green and blue, a pair of electrodes for each set of three stripes and a photoconductive layer. An alternating voltage produced by a DC-DC converter is applied to the electrodes to provide a predetermined pattern on the surface of the photoconductive layer with the image to be reproduced. The composite signal on the photoconductive layer of an index signal and a color video signal is fed back through the same terminals that applied the alternating voltage to the electrodes to a circuit which separates the color video signal from the index signal. The index signal is then applied to three demodulators to obtain the color video signals. The circuit which separates the index and chrominance signals operates under the control of an output signal from the DC-DC converter which also supplies the alternating voltage to the electrodes.

    Abstract: An electrode structure includes a pin that extends through a hole in a fragile substrate, such as a thin, glass plate, and makes contact with a conductive layer on one surface of the plate. The structure includes a first metallic adherent layer on that portion of the conductive layer and a second metal layer on the exposed surface of the first metal layer. The hole extends through the conductive layer and both of the metal layers. The first metal layer is adherent to the conductive layer and consists of iron, chromium, or nickel, for example, deposited on the conductive layer. The second metal layer is a fixative for the first layer and is wettable by soft solder. It consists of a noble metal from the group consisting of gold, silver, platinum and paladium. The pin has a head larger than the cross-section of the hole and a surface that is wettable by soft solder. A ring of soft solder encircles the pin and is solidified into joining relationship between the surface of the pin and the adjacent surrounding surface of the second metal layer to form a hermetic seal and an electrical connection between the pin and the second metal layer. The solder ring may be placed on the pin as a separate element, and its temperature may be raised to the molten state by heat treatment of the entire assembly, after which the solder resolidifies upon cooling.
