The point X is located between a beam splitter 28a and a second objective lens 5 on the first path. In the pickup, optical paths are mtutally corssed and superimposed and therefore, the total sum of the volume occupied by the fluxes is reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the width of a shutter from constraining the design of the size etc. of a shell.
SOLUTION: A disk cartridge 1 is provided with a disk 2, the shell 3 for housing the disk 2 in a freely rotatable way and having on a bottom face an opening part 36 for inserting a driving shaft, and the shutter 4 slidably attached to the shell 3 and for opening/closing the opening part 36 for inserting the driving shaft. The shutter is constituted in such a way that the width W2 of the shutter in an opening/closing movement direction is larger than the width W1 of the opening part 36 for inserting the driving shaft and larger than a width W3 between the opening part 36 for inserting the driving shaft of the shell 3 and an end part 32 of a shutter moving side. A portion of the width of the shutter 4 in the opening/closing movement direction projects outside from the end part 32 of the shell 3 at a position for releasing the opening part 36 for inserting the driving shaft.
