Abstract: An optical pickup, and an optical disc player incorporating the same, are disclosed which are capable of an easy and good adjustment of the objective lens skew, compact in the optical-axial direction of the objective lens, and having a reducible light-projected area in a plane perpendicular to the optical axis. The optical pickup comprises a light source to emit a light beam; a frame having provided therein photodetectors upon which incoming light beam is incident; an objective lens; an objective lens driving mechanism to support the objective lens movably in a direction parallel to the optical axis of the objective lens; and a support plate installed on the frame to fix the objective lens driving mechanism; the objective lens driving mechanism support plate being mounted on the frame with a spherical adjusting mechanism provided between them, the spherical adjusting mechanism being located at the lateral sides of the objective lens supported by the objecting lens driving mechanism, the support plate for the objective lens driving mechanism being mounted on the frame by means of the spherical adjusting mechanism, the support plate being fixed after adjusted in position and/or angle along the spherical adjusting mechanism.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure the cleanliness of air with high accuracy by arranging a hole for measurement at a position in the neighborhood of the outer periphery of a disk, and a circulating filter neighboring to the downstream side in the rotating direction of the disk for the hole for measurement, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The circulating filter 8 is arranged at a recessed part 19 provided at the position in the neighborhood of the outer periphery of a hard disk 4 in the disk housing room 2 of a sealed case 1. The hole 17 for measurement is provided at either the lower wall 20 or the upper wall 21 of the case 1 so as to communicate with the recessed part 19. At this time, the hole 17 and the filter 8 are arranged neighboring to each other in sequence of the hole 17 and the filter 8 in the rotating direction (direction of arrow head (a)) of the disk 4. By employing such constitution, it is possible to directly measure the cleanliness of air current by measuring the cleanliness of the air in the case 1 with a vertical counter 26 in a state where a nozzle 25 for measurement is inserted from the hole 17 to the case 1 and the disk 4 is driven rotatably in the direction of arrow head (a).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the shape of a position regulating ramp which guides the read-write head in a hard disk drive of a dynamic loading/unloading system.
SOLUTION: The head actuator 6 is formed in a shape that its suspension 4 is articulated with the arm body 5 in the direction approaching the disk 2. The suspension 4 has a read-write head 3 at its end and a lift tab 12 disposed closer to its root than the the head 3. The position regulating ramp 7 has a slope 7a extending along the trajectory of the lift tab 12 which moves as the head actuator 6 turns. By inflecting the head actuators 6, the slope 7a for a surface of the disk 2 and the slope 7a for the other surface of the disk 2 can be formed in one body and disposed outside the disk 2.

SOLUTION: A rotor 15 is rotatably arranged in a housing space between first and second shells 11 and 13 and between the first shell and a recording medium. The rotor has a first wall part 25 formed in the circumferential direction of the rotor, and a part of the first wall part is bored to form a first opening. The second shell has a second wall part 27 formed to be superposed on the inside of the first wall part in the outer peripheral part of the recording medium outside the radial direction of the outer peripheral part of the recording medium. The second and first wall parts constituted a labyrinth structure for isolating the recording medium from the outside thereof, and the first and second openings rotate the rotor to form entrance/exit openings.
