    Abstract: METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR P _V NTING ERRORS IN PCM SIGNAL PR~CESSING APPARATUS A technique is disclosed-for preventing errors in a PCM error-correction decoder of the type supplied with successive transmission blocks, each comprised of timeinterleaved PCM,error-correction and error detection words, wherein the transmission blocks are selectively supplied from first and second data sources such that an error interval is produced as a function of the transition period during which the selection of the data sources is changed over from one to the other. According to this technique, the presence of an error in a supplied transmission block is detected, and each of the timeinterleaved words included in that transmission block is identified as being erroneous. The transmission block is time de-interleaved to recover a de-interleavec block comprised of de-interleaved PCM and error-correcti words. An erroneous PCM word in the de-interleaved block is corrected as a function of the remaining non-erroneous PCM and error-correction words in that de-interleaved block. However, the correction of a PCM word is inhibited if the block in which that word is disposed contains at least one word derived from the first data source and another word derived from the second data source.

    Abstract: METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING DATA IN AN ERROR CORRECTION FORMAT Successive data words are distributed to a plurality of respective channels to form successive data blocks, each data block being comprised of the data words in the plural channels. A first error correcting code is generated as a function of the words included in the data block, this first error correcting code being adapted for use in correcting at least one word which may be erroneous in the data block, as when the data block subsequently is received or reproduced. The data words included in the data block are selectively delayed, by different respective time delays, to form a time-interleaved data block comprised of time-interleaved data words. A second error correcting code is generated as a function of the words included in the time-interleaved data block, this second error correcting code being adapted for use in correcting at least one word which may be erroneous in the time-interleaved data block, as when the time-interleaved data block subsequently is received or reproduced. The first and second error correcting codes and the time-interleaved data block are combined to form a transmission block which may be transmitted or recorded on a suitable record medium.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate error correction of reproduced data to improve S/N by dividing of a unit time corresponding to one track to even-numbered data and odd- numbered data and recording them across two tracks. CONSTITUTION:An audio signal is sampled and is converted to a PCM signal So of 16 bits per one word. After a parity is added to PCM data, even-numbered data and odd-numbered data of two signals of the time unit [D1, D2], [D3, D4], [D5, D6]... are recorded on one track as 19, 20 by two heads. In case of reproducing, outputs of two heads are arranged alternately continuously and are restored to a digital signal by a digital signal restoring circuit.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain tracking control from a detection output by recording and reproducing plural positioning signals shorter than the recording time of a pilot signal and forming a pulse signal on the basis of the start edge of a positioning signal. CONSTITUTION:An output of a peak hold circuit 21 is sampled at a sampling hold circuit 22 at a period tB by using a sampling pulse SP1 from a sampling pulse generating circuit 44 and fed to an input terminal of a differential amplifier 23 so as to make the polarily with a tracking error signal at normal reproduction the same. A comparison error signal from the differential amplifier 23 in this case is sampled at a hold circuit 44 by using a pulse SP2 from a pulse generating circuit 24 and led to an output terminal 26 as a tracking control signal. Since the frequency of an erasure signal is selected in advance with a value having much azimuth loss and recorded, even if the device is subjected to mechanical time change in the lopse of time or temperature change, the tracking control is conducted with high accuracy at normal reproduction or variable speed reproduction.
