Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method and apparatus for detecting control signals recorded on a continuous recording area on the recording medium at an elevated speed. When k out of n past read-out control signals have been read correctly as being the prescribed control signal, the signal is concluded to be the prescribed control signal. It is possible in this manner to read out the control signals accurately even when the error rate is high, as during high speed searching.
