Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect the file name of a still image file stored in the file device to be connected to a stationary still image transfer device by using a portable still image transfer device. CONSTITUTION:A portable still image transfer device 1 is device 2 by way of a telephone line 5. The transfer device 2 is connected to files such as a magneto-optical disk device 4, etc. When, by using a function key 13 on an operational panel face of the transfer device 1, a request for a still image file name is transmitted to the transfer device 2, the file is retrieved and the data of still image file name is transmitted from the transfer device 2. Based upon this file name data, a file name is displayed on a display part 12 on the operational panel face of the transfer device 1. By this, the file name of a still image file stored in a file can be detected by using the transfer device 1, so that usability of the transfer device 1 is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the convenience of use by compressing data of plural still pictures and storing the result into a 2nd memory circuit and sending the stored still pictures at a batch. CONSTITUTION:The transmitter contains a 1st memory circuit 40 storing one still picture of a 1st picture data DG and a 2nd memory circuit 50 storing 2nd picture data whose data are compressed for plural still pictures. Then plural still pictures whose picture data are compressed are stored in the 2nd memory circuit 60 to send or receive plural still pictures at a batch as required. Thus, the use of convenience is improved with simple installation.
