Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and surely select a desired program without interrupting the pictures of a program during viewing as much as possible by displaying the title of a prescribed still picture specified by a cursor in a title display part. SOLUTION: A CPU 29 fetches decoded still picture data, converts them to the size of a reduced screen, then outputs the data to an MPEG video decoder 25 again, utilizes the OSD function and displays them as the reduced screen on a monitoring device. While a normal program is received and displayed on the monitoring device, when the program chart button switch of a remote commander is operated, a data stream composed of the plural pieces of the reduced screens is displayed on a monitor screen and the cursor is displayed on the prescribed reduced screen. The cursor is moved by operating a button switch and a category icon is eliminated on the screen to which the cursor is moved. Then, the title of the program where the cursor is positioned is displayed on a title bar. The CPU 29 controls a tuner 21 so as to receive the program where the cursor is positioned.
