Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of a film comprising microfibrillated cellulose, wherein the method comprises the steps of; providing a suspension comprising microfibrillated cellulose, applying the suspension on a substrate to form a fibrous web, wherein the web has a first and a second side, conducting the web to a contact drying equipment wherein the first side of said web is in direct contact with of the contact drying equipment at a temperature above 100°C whereby the web is at least partly dried forming a film. The invention also relates to a film produced according to the method.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing an MFC film comprising reinforcement fibers, which film show excellent oxygen barrier properties and is easy to handle. The method of manufacturing the film comprises the steps of: - providing a suspension comprising a first microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) in an amount of at least 50 weight %, reinforcement fibers in an amount of at least 5 weight %, all percentages calculated on the total solid content of said suspension, and a formation aid, - mixing said suspension to form a mixture, - forming a fibrous web from the mixture, and - dewatering and/or drying said fibrous web to form a film having a basis weight of less than 40 g/m2, a specific formation number of below 0.45 g0,5/m2, and an Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) value of below 100 ml/m2/per 24 hours, preferably of below 50 ml/m2per 24 hours at 50% relative humidity. The invention further discloses a film and use of the film in food or liquid packaging applications.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a film comprising a base film which has been coated on at least one side with a coating that enhances gas and/or moisture barrier properties, wherein the base film comprises a fiber material and at least 60% by weight of said fiber material is microfibrillated cellulose, and the thickness of the coating is from 0.05 to 20 µm. The invention is also directed to products using said film. Such products are in particular packages suitable for sensitive objects that need to be packaged in a controlled or modified atmosphere. The film is also useful for other purposes, such as in the manufacture of balloons.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a film having an oxygen transmission rate in the range of from 1 cc/m2/24h to 500 cc/m2/24h according to ASTM D-3985, at a relative humidity of more than 50 % at 25°C, or higher than 75% at 25°C, or higher than 85% at 25°C, wherein the method comprises the steps of: providing a first suspension comprising a microfibrillated cellulose, wherein the dry content of the suspension is in the range of from 0.1 to 10% by weight, adding a wet strength additive to said first suspension, at an amount of from 0.1 to 10 weight-% based on the amount of microfibrillated cellulose (dry/dry), thereby forming a mixture of the microfibrillated cellulose and the wet strength additive, applying said mixture to a substrate to form a fibrous web and drying said web to form said film. The present invention also relates to a film produced according to the method.

Abstract: Un proceso para la fabricación de un producto a base de fibra que comprente el paso de preparar una premezcla que comprende: a) celulosa microfibrilada, en donde la cantidad de celulosa microfibrilada es de 0,1 kg a 50 kg por tonelada de composición fibrosa en seco; en donde la celulosa microfibrilada es fibra o fibrilla de partículas de celulosa a escala nanométrica con al menos una dimensión inferior a 100 nm; b) polímero catiónico, en donde la cantidad del polímero catiónico es de 0,01 kg a 10 kg por tonelada de composición fibrosa en seco, en donde dicho polímero catiónico se selecciona de almidón, poliaminoamida- epiclorhidrina y poliacrilamida catiónica o copolímero de los mismos; c) micropartículas o nanopartículas, en donde la cantidad de micropartículas es de 0,01 kg a 10 kg por tonelada de composición fibrosa en seco, en donde dichas micropartículas o nanopartículas son partículas de sílice, microsílice, bentonita o microbentonita; y dosificar dicha premezcla en la pasta en un proceso para la fabricación de un producto a base de fibra.
