    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled wall covering free from the formation of wrinkles caused by the elongation of the substrate nor the generation of mold in the paste, and usable for a long period without causing the surface waviness and peeling, by providing a water-impermeable layer between the substrate and the foamed layer composed mainly of a vinyl chloride resin and containing a highly water-absorbing polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective wall covering is composed of (A) a foamed layer made of a resin composition consisting of (i) a vinyl chloride resin, (ii) a highly water-absorbing polymer having an average particle diameter of =30 times weight of water based on own weight, and (iii) a plasticizer, (B) a substrate (e.g. paper, cloth, nonwoven cloth, wood plate, etc.) and (C) a water-impermeable layer, preferably a non-foamed vinyl chloride resin having high adhesivity to the foamed layer and excellent moldability, between the foamed layer A and the substrate B. The highly water-absorbing resin is a polyelectrolyte containing carboxylic acid salt and having crosslinked structure, preferably a saponified copolymer of a vinyl ester and an ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative). The amount of the water-absorbing polymer is 5-150pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the vinyl chloride resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer, having improved impact resistance, and suitable for elastomers, by anion polymerization of a prepolymer having terminal N-carbonyllactam groups with a lactam in the presence of lactam magnesium iodide as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aliphatic polyether, e.g. polyethylene glycol or polcaprolactone, or polyester is reacted with an N-chlorocarbonyllactam to give a prepolymer having terminal N-carbonyllactam groups expressed by the formula (R is 3-11C aliphatic group), which is then incorporated with (B) a lactam, e.g. pyrrolidinone or epsilon-caprolactam, and (C) a salt of a 5-18 membered ring lactam with magnesium iodide at the melting point of the lactam or above, and polymerizing the resultant mixture at 50-200 deg.C to afford the aimed copolymer. The amounts of the components are preferably as follows; 2-90wt% component (A), 5-97wt% component (B) and 0.1-10wt% component (C).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyether prepolymer suitable for use in the anion block copolymerization of a lactam, by reacting a polyoxyalkylene having a hydroxyl group on each end with an N-chlorocarbonyllactam. CONSTITUTION:A polyether prepolymer of formula III is produced by reacting a polyoxyalkylene having a hydroxyl group on each end (average MW of about 200-20,000) represented by formula I (wherein R is a 2-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue, and n is 4-450) with an N-chlorocarbonyllactam of formula II(wherein R is a 3-12C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue), e.g., N-chlorocarbonylcaprolactam, in amounts to provide about 0.6-1.5 equivalent of the latter per equivalent of the hydroxyl groups of the former at about 0-200 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a colorless nylon block copolymer of excellent impact resistance, by polymerizing an oxycarbonyllactam group-terminated prepolymer with a lactam in the presence of a basic lactam polymerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An oxycarbonyllactam group-terminated prepolymer obtained by reacting a polyoxycarbonyllactam of the formula with a polyether-polyol is polymerized with a lactam in the presence of a basic lactam polymerization catalyst. In the formula, R1 is a 2-12C aliphatic group, R2 is a 2-14C aliphatic group, and n is 1-5. As the polyether-polyols, those having a number-average MW of, generally, 500 or above, particularly preferably, 1,000-6,000 are used. When the number-average MW of the polyether-polyol is below 500, the impact resistance of the finally obtained nylon block copolymer is not sufficient, while when this MW is above 6,000, the nylon block copolymer can hardly be produced, which is not desirable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce an acyllactamcarboxylic acid which is an anionic polymerization accelerator for lactams in high purity and yield, by facilitating the reaction of a metal salt of a lactam with a cyclic acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A lactam is subjected to a hydrogen-metal exchange reaction with an organic and/or inorganic metallic compound reactive with the lactam to give a metallic salt of the lactam expressed by formula I (M is metallic element selected from Groups I , II and III; Y is H, alkyl, alkoxyl, halogen or lactam; m is an integer 0-2; n is an integer 3-13), e.g. caprolactam magnesium bromide. The resultant compound expressed by formula I is then reacted with a cyclic acid anhydride, e.g. succinic anhydride, to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II (R is hydrocarbon residue), e.g. N-succinoylcaprolactam. EFFECT:The reactivity is improved by using the metallic salt of the lactam, and the purification is easily carried out.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a block copolymer having improved impact resistance and low coloring, by subjecting a polyether prepolymer comprising a polyoxyalkylene as a main component to anionic polymerization. CONSTITUTION:A polyoxyalkylene containing a terminal hydroxyl group is reacted with N-chlorocarbonyl lactam to give a polyether prepolymer. This prepolymer is reacted with lactam in the presence of anionic polymerization catalyst. A polyoxyalkylene having preferably 300-30,000 number-average molecular weight, especially preferably 500-10,000 number-average molecular weight is used as the polyoxyalkylene, and N-Chlorocarbonyl caprolactam, or N-chlorocarbonylpyrrolidinone is used as the N-chlorocarbonyl lactam. An amount of the N-chlorocarbonyl lactam is 1.01-3 equivalents, preferably 10.5-2.2 equivalent based on 2 equivalent hydroxy group in the polyoxyalkylene.
