Abstract:
Abstract:
A catheter (11) for use in combination with a guide wire (12) for placement within a tortuous, small vessel and delivery of fluid to a target site. The catheter (11) comprises an elongated tubular body with a perforated flexible tip (20) located at the distal end (15) of the elongated tubular body.
Abstract:
This invention is a microballoon (108) tipped catheter (100). The catheter has a shaft (104) which is of varying flexibility with the most flexible portion towards the distal tip. The balloon is of an elastic material. The catheter shaft has a main lumen (114) extending from the proximal end to the distal end so to allow the use of a guidewire (101) in placing the catheter's distal tip in remote regions. The catheter shaft has a wall that desirably is of multilayered construction. The wall preferably includes an independent lumen (110) which may be formed from a small diameter tubing that is placed between layers of the wall, for the inflation and deflation of the microballoon. The inflation lumen proceeds from the proximal end of the catheter and terminates near the distal end of the catheter but within the microballoon.
Abstract:
A device for retrieving foreign bodies, such as a vaso-occlusive coil or other articles from within vessels such as those of the cardiovascular system. Two small snare coils (60, 62) are joined at their distal ends (68, 70) to form a loop. The proximal ends of the coils are attached to one or more elongated actuator members (20, 22). The loop size is adjusted by manipulation of one or more of the proximal ends (26, 44) of the elongated actuator members. This retrieval device may be used to ensnare and either reposition or remove foreign bodies within a vessel lumen.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A pusher-vasoocclusive coil assembly (11) that is advanced through a catheter (24) to a site within a vessel and is manipulated to detach the coil (13) from the assembly. The pusher (12) has a distal end (17) that is initially threaded into the proximal end of the coil (13) and the assembly (11) includes a sleeve (14) that is slid over the pusher (12) and whose distal edge abuts the proximal end of the coil (13) to hold the coil (13) in place while the distal end of the pusher (12) is threaded out of the coil (13) to detach the coil (13) at the site.
Abstract:
Abstract:
This invention is an exceptionally flexible, ultrasoft vaso-occlusive or embolism forming device. It is made of radiopaque material which may be a braid (200), coil (100), or chain (600) which forms a long, thin thread-like device having little rigidity or column strength. The diameter of the device may be less than about 0.010 inches. The filamentary material making up the device used to form the coil (100), braid (200), or chain (600) is typically of a diameter less than about 0.002 inches. The device is sufficiently flexible and small that it may be hydraulically delivered to a site within the vasculature of the human body using an injected drug or fluid flush through a catheter (512). In some configurations, the device may be delivered using pushers (504, 512) to mechanically deliver the device through the catheter lumen. Various mechanical connections may be used to sever the coil by a simple connection of a dissimilar metal to allow electrolytic separation upon application of small voltage is desirable (Figs 5A, 5B).
Abstract:
This invention is an apparatus for endovascular occlusion through the formation of thrombi in arteries, veins, aneurysms, vascular malformations and arteriovenous fistulas. In particular, it deals with a sacrificial link (106) between an endovascular device (104) which is introducted to and is intended to remain at the desired thrombus formation site and the device (102) used to introduce the device. The invention further includes a method for introduction of the device and its electrolytic separation.
