Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester fiber for reinforcing rubber containing a specific amount of a fluoropolymer and diethylene glycol, having a specific COOH amount and specific [intermediate elongation + dry heat shrinkage factor] and having good dimensional stability and heat resistance in rubber and capable of substituting for rayon. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene terephthalate chips having 0.67 intrinsic viscosity are preliminarily dried at 160 deg.C for 5hr and then subjected to solid phase polymerization at 225 deg.C to afford solid phase polymerization chips having 1.02 intrinsic viscosity. The chips are blended with tetrafluoroethylene-ethylene random copolymer chips and the blend is spun using an extruder type spinning machine and treated at 85 deg.C drawing temperature and 240 deg.C heat treating temperature to provide the objective polyester fiber for rubber reinforcement. This polyester fiber contains 0.05-10wt.% fluoropolymer and has the following characteristics: [Intermediate elongation + dry heat shrinkage factor] (S) (%)

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title monofilament excellent in wear and flex resistance by coating polyester monofilament, through an adhesive layer, with a specified thickness of a cured product prepared by curing a hydrolyzate of a specific silicon compound with a specific metal compound. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, a cured product is prepared by curing (A) a hydrolyzate formed by hydrolyzing (1) a silicon compound of the formula (n is 1-3; R is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl; R is 1-6C alkyl or aryl; R is 1-10C alkylene, alkylene oxide, etc.; X is epoxy-contg. functional group) with (2) an acidic aqueous solution with (B) a metal compound (said metal being selected from iron, chromium, aluminum, etc.). Second, an adhesive layer is produced by coating polyester monofilament with an adhesive consisting of a combination of pref, (a) a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and styrene and (b) hexamethylolmelamine trimethyl ether, etc. Thence, the cured product is applied, through the adhesive layer, on the monofilament to form a coating layer 0.5-20mum thick, thus obtaining the objective polyester monofilament with high wear resistance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject monofilament useful for fishing net, etc., having excellent wear resistance and resistance to flexing by applying a hardened material derived from a mixture of hydrolysate of a specific silicon compound and inorganic particles in hardening with a compound such as iron onto the surface in a fixed thickness. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. a hydrolysate of a silicon compound (e.g. alpha- glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane) expressed by the formula (n is 1-3; R is alkyl or alkoxyalkyl; R is 1-6C alkyl or aryl; R is 1-10C alkylene, alkylene oxide or polyalkylene oxide; X is functional group containing epoxy) is mixed with inorganic particles (e.g. alumina) preferably in an amount of 0.1-10 pts.wt. and resultant mixture is subjected to hardening treatment with at least a metallic compound selected from iron, chromium, aluminum, cobalt and titanium compound. Then, surface of a monofilament is coated with said hardened material in thickness of 0.5-20mum to afford the aimed monofilament.
