    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare purified water economically and reliably by injecting a given volume of ammoniacal nitrogen into a liquid to be treated containing 0.1-10ppm of free chlorine and then treating said liquid to be treated with a composite reverse osmosis membrane. CONSTITUTION:Ammoniacal nitrogen, 1-10 times of volume of free chlorine, is injected into a liquid to be treated containing 0.1-10ppm of free chlorine. Then, said liquid to be treated is treated with a composite reverse osmosis membrane to prepared permeating purified water and concentrated liquid. As for the liquid to be treated, usually river water, underground water or the like is used, and pH of the liquid to be treated is determined in consideration of hydrolysis properties of the membrane to be used, separation of scale and the like, and generally pH 4-10, preferably around 6-8. As a composite reverse osmosis membrane, a membrane having a polyamide group activated layer, particularly a crosslinking aromatic group polyamide activated layer is suitable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the selective separating ability of a membrane by bringing a semipermeable membrane consisting of a crosslinked polymer consisting essentially of furfuryl alcohol into contact with an aq. soln. of a water soluble amino compd. CONSTITUTION:The semipermeable membrane consisting of a furfuryl alcohol type polymer refers to a membrane prepd. by coating an aq. soln. contg. fulfuryl alcohol or a reacting component system consisting of said alcohol and trishydroxyethylisocyanurate, inositol and sorbitol and an acid catalyst such as sulfuric acid on porous backing and polymerizing these by heating. Such semipermeable membrane of which the performance is degraded upon long-term use is brought into contact for a short time with an aq. 1 ppm-1% soln. of water soluble amino compds. such as alkyl amino compds., arom. amino compds., and alicyclic amino compds. According to the above-mentioned method, solute permeability is improved from about 2/3 to 1/3 by the extremely simple operation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a semipermeable dual membrane having high removing rate of low-concn. cation especially under alkali condition by using such a crosslinked polyamide having quaternary nitrogen atoms to constitute a super- thin film layer of a semipermeable dual membrane.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a flat composite porous membrane which prevents fine particles from falling off its support body and makes feasible the production of a super pure water and highly pure gas by forming a porous membrane on both sides of a support body consisting of the inner fiber of a flat composite porous membrane. CONSTITUTION:A porous membrane is formed on both sides of a support body consisting of the inner fiber of a flat composite porous membrane to form a structure of at least three layers. The porous membrane consists of an org. polymer (e.g. polysulfone polymer) with pores having a size of at most 0.1mum in diameter formed therein. A separating active layer capable of reverse osmosis separation or decomposable active layer capable of gas separation is formed at least one side of the porous membrane. As a result, fine particles can be prevented from falling off the support body and the production of a super pure water and a highly pure gas becomes feasible.
