Abstract: PURPOSE:To bond synthetic fibers to a rubber firmly, without scouring the fibers contaminated with oil, by treating the fibers with a resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) condensate, thereafter by treating with a rubber cement. CONSTITUTION:Preferably 0.05 - 5 wt.% of an RF condensate is preliminarily attached to synthetic fibers, e.g. nylon-6, etc.. The fibers are thermally treated prefereably at 150 - 250 deg.C for 0.5 - 5 min and impregnated with pref. 5 - 20 wt% of a rubber cement solution. The product is heat treated, e.g. at 100 - 150 deg.C for 1 - 3 min to remove the solbents. EFFECT:Uniform adhesion. USE:Production of rubberized fabrics, etc..

Abstract: PURPOSE:To bond strongly synthetic fibers to a rubber even if the fiber is contaminated with oil, by treating the fibers with a reactive adhesive comprising a compound having a specific reactive functional group, e.g. isocyanate group, etc., thereafter by treating with a rubber cement. CONSTITUTION:Preferably 0.05 - 5 wt.% of a reactive adhesive consisting mainly of a compound (derivative) having a reactive functional group selected from an active isocyanate group, blocked isocyanate groups, an ethylene urea group, an ethylene urethane group and an epoxy group, is applied to synthetic fibers, e.g. nylon-6, etc.. The fibers are impregnated with a treating solution of a rubber cement, and coated with the cement preferably in an amount of 5 - 20 wt.%. Thermal treatment is preferably applied after each treatment with the treating solution.
