    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit a lowering of properties (a deterioration of luminance) with time due to a low accelerating voltage (3-15 kV) of electron beams or the like and maintain a good emission luminance over a long period in a fluorescent substance for a display device used in FED or the like. SOLUTION: This blue and green light-emitting fluorescent substance for the display device comprises a fluorescent substance of zinc sulfide having a crystal structure of a hexagonal system. The blue light-emitting fluorescent substance of zinc sulfide has a mean particle diameter within the range of (0.0169×VE1.9+2.49) ±20% (μm) to the accelerating voltage VE of electron beams. The green light-emitting fluorescent substance of zinc sulfide has a mean particle diameter within the range of (0.017×VE1.9+2.58) ±20% (μm). The red light-emitting fluorescent substance for the display device comprises an yttrium oxysulfide fluorescent substance or an yttrium oxide fluorescent substance and has a mean particle diameter within the range of (0.023×VE1.95+2.88) ±20% (μm).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-scale, bright and inexpensive electron source unit that has uniformity and a high electron emission capability, its manufacturing method, and a flat display unit which is equipped with the electron source unit. SOLUTION: A fluorescent layer 42 is formed on the inner face of a face plate, and an electron source unit is provided 18 that emits electrons for exciting the fluorescent layer on the inner surface of a base plate 10. The electron source unit 18 has an alumina substrate 20 having many fine through-holes 24, in which an electron-emitting substance is embedded. A base electrode 22 which is in contact with the electron emitting substance is formed beneath the alumina substrate 20, while on the upper face is a gate electrode 26, that causes field concentration to the electron-emitting substance with a voltage applied on the base electrode 22 and electron emission from the electron-emitting substance toward the fluorescent layer 42, in an insulated state with respect to the electron emitting substance.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition which can form an elaborate pattern on the surface of e.g. glass or ceramics without using e.g. any wettability improver or the like by regulating a system comprising a solvent, a pigment dispersed therein and a dispersant so that the system may satisfy special conditions. SOLUTION: A system comprising a solvent, a pigment and a dispersant for enhancing the affinity between both is regulated so that the ratio V/S (wherein V is the volume of the system, and S is the surface area of the interface formed at the boundary between the system and the vapor phase) may be maximized. The surface tension of the system is maintained at 20.0-50.0dyn/cm at 25 deg.C, and the viscosity of the system is maintained at 1.5-20.0cP at 25 deg.C. Referring to Fig. (a), when the ink composition 203 is deposited on the surface 202 of a substrate 201, the ratio V/S (wherein V is the volume of the composition 203, and S is the surface area of the interface 204) is kept maximum. Referring to Fig. (b), when the solvent is evaporated from the composition, the V/S ratio (wherein V is the volume of composition 203, and S is the surface area of the interface) is increased, and the composition 203 deposited on the surface 202 is sunk. Therefore, a composition which does not suffer from this problem is formed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube capable of high-quality display by enhancing the brightness and contrast characteristics of an effective display screen and the color purity of display light in each color. SOLUTION: A color filter layer 20 provided between the inner surface of a faceplate 12 and a phosphor screen 18 has filters of three colors, opposed to the phosphor layers of three colors R, G, B of the phosphor screen, with the three colors corresponding to the phosphor layers of these colors. The filter for each color is so formed that its transmission factor for light of wavelengths in the range ±20nm of the maximum emission spectrum wavelength of the light emitted from the phosphor layer of the corresponding color is made higher than that for light of wavelengths between 400nm and 650nm and outside the above range. A common outer-surface filter 22 which has maximum absorption in a predetermined wavelength band outside the range ±20nm of the maximum emission spectrum wavelength of the phosphor layers of the three colors and which supplements the light absorption property of the color filter layer is formed over the outer surface of the faceplate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily produce a photochromic glass thin film having excellent weather resistance and high freedom degree for selection of transmission and absorption wavelength, CONSTITUTION:First, water containing 15% nitric acid is added to a soln. containing tetraethoxysilane, ethanol, and butanol, and mixture is stirred at room temp. to prepare a liquid (A). Then 6% spiropyran dispersion liquid is prepared by using polycarboxylic acid as a dispersant and isopropanol as a dispersion liquid to obtain dispersion of fine particles of 1'-butyl-3',3'-dimethyl-6- nitro-spiroindolinobenzopyran. This liquid is added to the liquid (A) and stirred at room temp. to prepare a liquid (B). This liquid (B) is applied on a glass substrate by dipping, dried in air at room temp., and heat treated to obtain a photochromic glass thin film. Characteristics of the obtd. thin film change shown as a curve 2 in the figure by irradiation of UV rays and as curves 3, 4, 5 and 1 by irradiation of visible rays.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the antireflection film having a multilayered structure by a simple method. CONSTITUTION:This antireflection film has the multilayered structure constituted by laminating at least two layers of thin films on a base body. At least one layer among these thin films contain dyestuff having absorption in the entire wavelength region of 400 to 700nm and the reflectivity of the antireflection film at the wavelengths at which the antireflection film has absorption is smaller than the reflectivity of the base body. This antireflection film is capable of effectively preventing external light reflection when applied to a cathode ray tube or the base body of a light transparent display section of a display device, such as liquid crystal display device.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high output in a wavelength region of a wide range and to improve a traveling property and durability by forming the magnetic layer of upper and lower layers of a double layer structure with specified magnetic powders respectively and combining the same adequate resin binder. CONSTITUTION:The output of the short wavelength region is increased by using a hexagonal ferrite powder having characteristics of 0.3 to 5 SFD, 50 to 70emmu/g saturation magnetization and 500 to 3000Oe coercive force for the upper magnetic layer. A polyurethane resin contg. a sulfonic acid group in the molecular chain and having 1000 to 100000mol.wt. and -40 to +40 deg.C Tg are used for both the upper and lower magnetic layers in a range of 4 to 40 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. magnetic powder. As a result, the surface characteristics are improved and the disturbance at the boundary of the upper and lower magnetic layers is eliminated, the S/N is increased and the high output from a short wavelength region to a long wavelength region is obtd. The magnetic recording medium having the increased S/N and the excellent traveling property and durability is thus obtd.
