    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the purifying treatment efficiency of a liquid to be treated, by applying purifying treatment to the liquid to be treated by the synergistic action of ultraviolet rays emitted from an ultraviolet lamp and ozone formed by the irradiation of said ultraviolet rays while removing and deodorizing dissolved ozone of the liquid to be treated. CONSTITUTION:An ultraviolet lamp 7 is lighted and a liquid W to be treated such as water is passed through a treatment tank 2 and the open air is passed through an ambient air passage 3b in a partition wall 3. In this state,the air in the open air passage 3 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 185nm to form ozone which is, in turn, mixed in the liquid W to be treated, which flows through an aspirator 6, through a suction pipe 3a to be introduced into the bottom part of the treatment tack 2. The liquid W to be treated deodorized and purified by the sterilizing effect of ozone is sterilized and purified in the treatment tank 2 by the irradiation of ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 254nm from the ultraviolet lamp 7 transmitted through the partition wall 3 and dissolved ozone is also decomposed and residual ozone is adsorbed and removed when said liquid W passes through an activated carbon bed 11.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent undesirable variation of a plug by providing a tapered filling port which is flared from the outside toward the inside on one opening of a luminescent tube and sealing the filling port by a plug which has a tapered part. CONSTITUTION:An opening 2a at one end of a luminescent valve 1 made of transparent alumina ceramics is hermetically sealed via glass solder 4 with a plug 3 which holds an electrode 2A. Before the process of sealing, a plug 9 of which periphery is formed in advance into a tapered part 9a matching the tapered shape of filling port 8 is placed inside the filling port 8 of tapered shape flared from the outside toward the inside which is provided on the other end opening 1b of the valve 1 and an electrode 2b is placed thereon. The valve 1 is vertically held with one end 1a where sealing is completed, positioned downward and is filled with Na amalgam 5 through the filling port 8. Then glass solder mold 4A is placed and is heated, while the plug 9 being bonded in a correct attitude without inclination.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To sterilize easily a fluid without using chlorine or a mercury lamp as before by providing a gas-discharge chamber for discharging in a hermetic vessel with a microwave and a discharge medium, and passing a fluid while discharging electricity.
    CONSTITUTION: An inner tube 16 made of quartz glass and an outer tube 17 made of synthetic quartz glass are arranged in a hermetic vessel 1 having an inlet 5 and an outlet 6 for a fluid to be treated, a gas-discharge chamber 18 is formed by both tubes, and a rod-shaped antenna 13 is provided at the center of the inside of the inner tube 16. After the gas-discharge chamber 18 is evacuated, Hg as a discharge medium and gaseous Ar for starting are sealed in the chamber 18. A microwave is sent to the rod-shaped antenna 13 from a microwave generator 21 through a waveguide 22 and a coaxial cable 24 while introducing a fluid to be sterilized such as city water from the inlet 5 to discharge electricity around the inner tube 16, and ultraviolet light is irradiated. The fluid such as city water is sterilized by said ultraviolet light, and the sterilized city water is discharged from the outlet 6.
