Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide yarn with mechanical properties for practical use, solidifying extruded yarn once, subjecting it to heat drawing in a heating zone while sending a specific amount of a hot gas there to and entangling it at a position after an outlet at the bottom of the heating zone. CONSTITUTION:Yarn is subjected to heat drawing while sending 10-80Nl/min hot gas to a heating zone. The temperature of the hot gas is >=70 deg.C, preferably 100-300 deg.C. The drawing rate is >=3,000m/min, and the yarn is entangled at a position after an outlet at the bottom of the heating zone. When the distance x from the outlet of the heating zone to an entangling device is >=25cm, suppressing effects on fluff and end breakage are enlarged.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of white-powder scum to enable a monofilament to be woven with a fine denier and a high strength, by specifying the fineness, breaking strength, density, and worsted-yarn irregulalities. CONSTITUTION:A monofilament has a fineness of 6-15 denier, a breaking strength of 5.5-8.0 g/D, a density of 1.3580-1.3700 g/cm , and worsted-yarn irregularities of 0.3-1.0. With a density less than 1.3580 g/cm , the obtained monofilament has a high coefficient of heat shrinkage and, therefore, the obtained screening gauze is deteriorated in thermal stability. With worsted-yarn irregulalities more than 1.0, the occurrence of white-powder scum is remarkably increased. The 0.3 worsted-yarn irregularities is a limit value which can be accomplished by an existing technique. The monofilament has preferably a fineness of 6-15 denier. Namely, with a fineness more than 15 denier, an opening area cannot be improved in a high-mesh gauze having 250 meshes or more. On the other hand, a breaking strength of 5.5-8.0 g/D is preferable, and with more than 8.0 g/D the occurrence of white powder scum is increased.
