    Abstract: A process for producing polyester fiber highly suitable for a raw yarn for a woven or knitted fabric, having a residual elongation of not higher than 60%, a Young's modulus of 60 to 100 g/d, a boiling water shrinkage of 4 to 10% and a dry heat shrinkage of 5 to 12%, the peak stress temperature in a dry heat shrinkage stress curve of said fiber being lower than 100 DEG C. The process comprises melt spinning a thermoplastic polyester through a spinneret into a filament and taking up the filament after solidifying the spun filamentary polymer, characterized in that the whole process from spinning through take-up is carried out without heating the filament, the filament is subjected to stretch treatment at a stretch ratio of not more than 20% after the solidification of the filament but before take-up, and take-up is carried out at a take-up speed of not less than 5,000 m/min.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a piece of waterproof canvas which has bulky feeling and is superior in durability, by a method wherein polyester filament is an aggregate where a number of pieces of single yarn are specific, the pieces of single yarn each possess a noncircular sectional form, confounded by forming a loop, base cloth is formed by weaving a polyester filament, the surface is coated with vinyle chloride resin and processed. CONSTITUTION:At least 85% of the whole repeating unit of a molecular chain is a polyester filament comprised of a polyethylene terephthalate and the polyester filament is an aggregate comprised of a number of pieces of single yarn of 90-300 pieces. The pieces of single yarn each possess a noncircular sectional form which is confounded by forming a loop, base cloth is formed by weaving the polyester filament and the title canvas is constituted by coating the surface of base cloth with vinyl chloride resin at 200-350g/m . When the pieces of the single yarn are fewer than 90 pieces, binding force among the pieces of the single yarn is lowered. When they are more than 300 pieces, since opportunities where a movement of the pieces of the single yarn is restricted become many, confounding or a loop by a fluid nozzle is reduced extremely.
