The invention relates to a tire having a radial carcass reinforcement, consisting of at least one layer of metal reinforcing elements, said tire including a top reinforcement, which is covered radially with a tread, said tread being joined to two beads via two sidewalls. According to the invention, the reinforcing elements of at least one carcass reinforcement layer are metal cables which, in the so-called permeability test, have a flow rate less than 20 cm3/mn and at least 10% of said metal cables are banded by a strand consisting of multifilament textile fibers.

The invention relates to a cable (C) gummed in situ and including: an inner layer (CT1) of the cable including N1 internal wire(s); an outer layer (CT3) of the cable including N3 external wires helically wound around the inner layer of the cable; and a gumming rubber composition (20) placed between the inner layer of the cable and the outer layer of the cable. The rubber composition (20) includes a Formula (I) compound, or a salt of said compound, wherein: each group R1, R2, and R3 is independently an alkylene, arylene, arylalkylene, alkylarylene, or cycloalkylene group; each group X1 and X2 is independently -COOH, -CO-NH-OH, -SOOH, -PO(OR)(R') or -PO(OR)(OR'), R and R' independently being hydrogen or an alkyl group; and X3 contains at least one -COOH, -CO-NH-OH, -SOOH, -PO(OR)(R') or -PO(OR)(OR') group, R or R' independently being hydrogen or an alkyl group.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of exhibiting durability performance more than that of the case that steel cords formed of carbon steel with a carbon content exceeding 0.75 wt.% even if steel cords formed of carbon steel with a carbon content smaller than 0.75 wt.% and with superior productivity are applied.SOLUTION: There is provided a pneumatic tire having reinforcement layers with a plurality of steel cords 10 being buried in rubber while being regularly arranged therein where each of the steel cords 10 is formed of a plurality of twisted wires 11, its wire diameter (d) is 0.15 to 0.40 mm, each of the twisted wires 11 is formed of a core segment 11a and a plating layer 11b formed around the core segment 11a, the core segment 11a is formed of carbon steel of which the carbon content is 0.60 to 0.75 wt.%, and on the other hand, an average thickness (t) of the plating layer 11b is in a range of 0.23 to 0.33 μm and the strength of each of the steel cords 10 is in a range of 3,000 to 3,500 MPa.

At least one strand of the core of each of said hybrid cords includes textile multifilament yarns. The strands of the intermediate and/or outer layers are metallic, and at least one inner layer is sheathed with a layer including a polymeric composition such as a crosslinkable or crosslinked rubber composition.
