Abstract: Systems and methods for real time feedback and for updating welding instructions for a welding robot in real time is described herein. The data of a workspace that includes a part to be welded can be received via at least one sensor. This data can be transformed into a point cloud data representing a three-dimensional surface of the part. A desired state indicative of a desired position of at least a portion of the welding robot with respect to the part can be identified. An estimated state indicative of an estimated position of at least the portion of the welding robot with respect to the part can be compared to the desired state. The welding instructions can be updated based on the comparison.

Abstract: Automatic enrollment of an item of manufacture to a quality inspection system comprises using associations of enrollment images of an example of the item of manufacture to their corresponding camera poses. Enrollment images which show inspection targets (e.g., components of the item of manufacture) in views which are also suitable for use in visual inspection of further instances of the item of manufacture are identified. Their associated camera poses are selected and provided for use in inspection planning. In some embodiments, suitability of the camera pose is verified by performing inspection tests on the enrollment images.

Abstract: A method of wood shingle classification and sawing using machine vision comprises the steps of taking an image of a wood slab in a wood block and identifying a defect in that slab; comparing an image of this defect to images of confirmed defects in a database of confirmed defects to find a match of the defect in these images. If a match is not found, sawing a shingle from the slab and classifying the shingle while making abstraction of the defect. In a second aspect, when images of two consecutive shingles are identical, a third and subsequent shingles can be sawn from a block without taking images thereof. In another aspect, the comparing of images is done by an artificial intelligence system that is trained on a database of images that are associable to the subjectivity of experienced shingle sawyers.

Abstract: In various examples, a computer-implemented method of generating instructions for a welding robot. The computer-implemented method comprises identifying an expected position of a candidate seam on a part to be welded based on a Computer Aided Design (CAD) model of the part, scanning a workspace containing the part to produce a representation of the part, identifying the candidate seam on the part based on the representation of the part and the expected position of the candidate seam, determining an actual position of the candidate seam, and generating welding instructions for the welding robot based at least in part on the actual position of the candidate seam.

The identification module may also have a tip guide, configured to receive a tip of the shank of the existing key. The tip guide may have a slot that exposes a tip end of the shank. The identification module may also have an imaging assembly configured to capture an image of the tip end through the slot.
