Abstract:
A unique two piece rotor construction and method of fabrication is disclosed. The rotor is cast in split positions (bifurcated along a central plane) by a shell molding or high pressure green sand technique. The portions have special pairs of interfitting mating faces, at least one being generally radially directed and at least one being generally axially directed. After the cast portions have said interfitting faces machined to a predetermined finish, and cleansed. The portions are assembled in a fixture with flux and braze material between said faces. The assembly is heated in a controlled atmosphere furnace to complete the brazed bond between said faces.
Abstract:
An apex seal for a rotary piston engine, the apex seal being made of cast iron and having an elongated shape, a roundish sliding surface, said apex seal comprising a hardened portion including the sliding surface with a chilled structure containing a large proportion of cementite and a non-hardened portion with at least one-third of the height of the seal and with no chilled structure; and a method of producing the same.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a vacuum pump housing produced especially from grey iron or nodular graphite iron, cast aluminium or special steel casting and comprising a plurality of webs (12, 14) on an outer side of the housing. Said housing is also provided with a covering element extending over at least two webs (12, 14). A cooling channel (16) for guiding a coolant is formed by an inner side (22) of the covering element (18) and two opposing lateral walls (26) of adjacent webs (12, 14).
Abstract:
A rotatable drive shaft in the swash pump or turbine for liquids is supported by one bearing at each end. An integrated motor or dynamo uses the same two bearings. The compound first bearing supports a slanted section of the drive shaft placed inside the inner swash sphere, and transfers rotational power to the attached nutatable swash plate. The second bearing confines rotation of the drive shaft in a defined axis. Either one of the bearings is made to prevent axial movement of the drive shaft, preventing swash pump misalignment. A resilient drive, and an immersed pump are described.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A compressor has a housing assembly and at least one rotor held by the housing assembly for rotation about a rotor axis. The rotor has a first face and a first housing element has a second face in facing spaced-apart relation to the first face of the rotor. The housing has a coating on the second face and a plurality of inserts protruding from the second face into the coating.
Abstract:
A vacuum pump (1) capable of preventing the life of bearings from being lowered by an axial force produced when the pump functions as a booster, wherein balance pistons (13) and (14) are installed on the shafts (6) and (7) of screw rotors (3, 4) on the suction side of a casing, a storing chamber (17) on the screw rotor side and the pressurizing chamber (16) on the balance piston side are separated from each other through the balance pistons, and a discharge pressure is applied to the pressurizing chamber to counteract a thrust force from the screw rotors at the time of pressure building and, the discharge pressure is applied to the balance pistons (13) and (14) to function the vacuum pump as the booster and, to function as the vacuum pump, the gas on the discharge side is sucked as cool gas, through a cooler, to the position of the screw rotor side storing chamber (17) near the discharge side, whereby the screw rotors (3, 4) can be rotatably supported in the casing (2) in the state of being meshed with each other, and the gas can be compressed and discharged in the rotor axis direction by the rotation of the screw rotors.
Abstract:
The compressor has two rotors (14, 16) which are each rotationally mounted by means of a shaft, in a housing (10). Said rotors (14, 16) rotate without touching the housing and consist of a powder-metallurgical Al-Si alloy, while the housing (10) consists essentially of aluminium.
Abstract:
A rotary type internal combustion engine having a stationary stator housing (127) and a rotor (100) which is rotatably mounted within the stator housing (127). The rotor has a thrust face (108) which is exposed to combusted gases within the engine. The thrust face (108) has a variable surface area. The stator has a profiled inner surface (152) or a contoured end cap which varies the surface area of the thrust face (108) exposed to combusting gases and thus provides the engine with a required torque characteristic. The engine further comprises a compressor assembly (132, 134, 136) located within the rotor (100) for supplying a compressed charge to a combustion chamber which includes the thrust face (108).
