Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrial synthetic method of an aromatic nitro compound, which does not use a large amount of a strong acid and requires no acid-proof facility nor control of an exothermic reaction.
SOLUTION: The industrial synthetic method of the aromatic nitro compound can be provided by reacting and nitrating a halogenated aromatic compound with a nitrite in the presence of a transition metal catalyst.

Abstract: The subject of the present invention is a process for the preparation of nitrophenols. More particularly, the invention relates to the preparation of p-nitrophenol. The process of preparation of the invention, which consists in preparing p-nitrophenol by nitrosation of phenol in the presence of sulphuric acid and then oxidation of p-nitrosophenol with nitric acid, is characterised in that, in the first nitrosation stage, the concentration of sulphuric acid is at least equal to 60% and, in the second stage, at the end of the oxidation reaction, the concentration of sulphuric acid is at most equal to 80%, which makes it possible to precipitate p-nitrophenol which is then separated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially advantageous method for producing a 2,3-dihalogeno-6-trifluoromethylbenzonitrile useful as an intermediate for agricultural/horticultural germicides, e.g. 2,3-dichloro-6-trifluoromethylbenzonitrile and 2,3-difluoro-6-trifluoromethylbenzonitrile. SOLUTION: One of the subject compounds, 2,3-dichloro-6- trifluoromethylbenzonitrile, is produced by brominating 2-chloro-5- trifluoromethylaniline to make 2-bromo-6-chloro-3-trifluoromethylaniline, which is converted to the corresponding diazonium salts, which is then made into 2-bromo-3,4-dichlorobenzotrifluoride by the reaction of cuprous or cupric chloride, followed by reacting a cyanide with the above 2-bromo-3,4- dichlorobenzotrifluoride.
