    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer-coated metal laminate adapted for a metal can in which impact resistance and taste characteristics are excellently compatible by coating a polyester layer having a specific melting point obtained by mixing ethylene glycol, butanediol residue, telephthalic acid residue and isophthalic acid residue at specific molar ratio by extrusion laminating. CONSTITUTION:A layer formed of polyester having a melting point of 120-265 deg.C obtained by mixing ethylene glycol residue and butanediol residue at a molar ratio of 20:80-95:5 and terephthalic acid residue and isophthalic acid residue at a molar ratio of 50:50-100:0 is covered by extrusion laminating. That is, in order to extrusion laminate the polyester having a specific melting point in which the ethylene glycol and butanediol are introduced on metal, in the case of molding to manufacture a can, excellent impact resistance is obtained even via many heat history such as heat treatment in the can forming step and retorting after the can forming.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable shock resistance of a coated metal which is formed to be extremely improved by a method wherein when one side surface of a metal sheet is coated with a polyester film, ultrasonic vibration air is blown against the surface of the film at coating time or at least just before coating. CONSTITUTION:When a metal sheet is coated with a polyester film, ultrasonic vibrating air is blown against the surface of the film in coating or at least just before coating. In a carboxylic acid component of polyester, terephthalic acid, and isophthalic acid are preferable from standpoints of shock resistance and a taste characteristic. In a glycol component, ethylene glycol is preferable from stand-points of shock resistance and the taste characteristic. Herein ultrasonic air is blown against a surface of the polyester film at least just before coating, and the ultrasonic wave is so set as to have many peaks within a range of 20-60kHz. By this blowing, a coated polyester in a baking treatment after squeezing and drawing a coated metal and after retort treatment is made difficult to generate fissure, pinhole, breaking, crack, etc., and indicates excellent performance as the metal coating.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain excellent flexibility, transparency by laminating a polyester containing aromatic, aliphatic dicarboxylate residue, as acid ingredient, 1,4- butanediol residue as glycol ingredient, and a polyester containing aromatic dicarboxyliate residue, 1,4-butanediol residue as main ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A polyester A contains a hard segment containing 50-90mol% of aromatic dicarboxylate residue as acid ingredient as main ingredient, a soft segment containing 5-50mol% of aliphatic dicarboxylate residue as main ingredient, and 1,4-butanediol residue as glycol ingredient. A polyester B to be laminated at least on one side surface of the polyester A contains aromatic dicarboxylate residue and 1,4-butanediol residue as main ingredients. In order to set wet tension of at least one side surface of the laminated polyester film to 40 dynes/cm or more, the polyester B having high wet tension is used or corona discharge treatment is performed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer foil having the excellent followability to the surface shape of a receiving material and deep drawing properties by laminating a transfer layer to at least the single surface of a biaxially oriented polyester film having specific Young's modulus. CONSTITUTION:A transfer layer is laminated to at least the single surface of a biaxially oriented polyester film with Young's modulus of 10-250kg/mm . In this case, it is pref. to laminate polyester B with a glass transition point of 45 deg.C or higher, pref., 55 deg.C or higher to at least the single surface of flexible polyester A from an aspect preventing the stickiness to a roll or a clip in comparison with the pref. stretching temp. of polyester A. As polyester B, crystalline polyester represented by PET is pref. By this constitution, the excellent followability to the surface of a receiving material and deep drawing properties are obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make a biaxially oriented film having a specified Young's modulus and thrust strength applicable appropriately to agricultural houses and tents by improving such properties as weathering, workability, durability, and impact resistance by incorporating a given amount of an ultraviolet absorbent. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented film of flexible polyester from polyethylene terephthalate as a main component is obtained which has a Young's modulus of 10-250kg/mm and thrust strength of 10kg/mm or more. This flexible polyester film is incorporated with 5wt.% or less of an ultraviolet absorbent, which gives the film weatherbility and flexibility. The flexible polyester preferably contains 1-40mol% of a long-chained aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 10 or more C alkylene group, e.g. dimer acid, as a monomer component. Moreover, a polyester layer having a glass transition point of 45 deg.C or higher is preferably laminated on one side of the flexible polyester film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accomplish the title treatment capable of giving polyesters causing no oligomer separation and good in thermal dimensional stability by bringing a polyester into contact with a supercritical fluid, etc., to reduce its oligomer content in a short time. CONSTITUTION:A polyester >=0.5 in intrinsic viscosity and >=0.1 in the molar ratio of the metal compound to the phosphorus compound (both of them contained in the polyester) (M/P) (in the form of chips, powder or formed product like film) is continuously brought into contact, using e.g. a pressure vessel, with a mixed fluid composed of (A) a supercritical fluid (pref. carbon dioxide) with a critical pressure of 1-500atm and critical temperature of -273 to 300 deg.C and (B) at least one of other fluid (e.g. chloroform) pref. with high affinity for the oligomers to be extracted which are virtually insoluble for said polyester, thus producing the objective polyester.
