    Abstract: A polyester film made of organic polymer particles, which have a specified strength at the time of deformation, and of which the product of the specific surface area and diameter is specified. The particles in film form are deformed in a specific direction, and the film has a surface with minute projections. This polyester film has a desired surface form, particularly suitable for magnetic recording media, and has excellent balance of travellability, wear resistance and electromagnetic conversion characteristics.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester compsn. causing no filter jamming during molding and giving a film excellent in the slip, transparency, and abrasion resistance by mixing a slurry of a particulate crosslinked polymer having a specified particle diameter and functional groups with a polyester by a vent type extruder. CONSTITUTION:A polyester is prepd. from a dicarboxylic acid component mainly consisting of an arom. dicarboxylic acid (e.g. terephthalic acid) and at least one glycol component (e.g. diethylene glycol). Separately, a particle crosslinked polymer having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum and functional groups (e.g. styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer) is dispersed in water and(or) an org. solvent having a b.p. of 200 deg.C or lower (e.g. methanol) to give a slurry. Then, the polyester and the slurry are fed to a vent type extruder and mixed therein to give a polyester compsn. wherein the particulate crosslinked polymer is contained in a uniform monodisperse state.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester composition suitable as a base film for video tapes, etc., having a few voids, excellent evenness, slipperiness, shaving resistance, etc., by blending a polyester with two kinds of polystyrene particles having specific thermal decomposition temperatures and specific particle diameters. CONSTITUTION:A polyester comprising a bifunctional acid component (e.g., terephthalic acid) consisting essentially of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and one or more glycol components (e.g., ethylene glycol) is blended with (A) 0.001-2wt.%, preferably 0.005-1wt.% crosslinked polystyrene particles having 0.1-0.6mum, preferably 0.25-0.5mum m average particle diameter and >=380 deg.C thermal decomposition temperature and (B) 0.001-2wt.%, preferably 0.005-1wt.% crosslinked polystyrene particles having 0.6-2mum, preferably 0.6-1.5mum average particle diameter and >=380 deg.C thermal decomposition temperature.
