    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fused polypeptide capable of inducing defensive immunity, and useful for vaccine preparation or the like by constituting the polypeptide from a receptor-bound domain or the like of an exotoxin A component of Pseudomanas. SOLUTION: This fused polypeptide comprises divisions represented by (i) a receptor-bound domain of an exotoxin A component of Pseudomonas, (ii) a membrane-metastasizing domain of the exotoxin A component of the Pseudomonas, (iii) a lipoprotein I of the Pseudomonas, or an antigenic fragment comprising at least 64 amino acid residues thereof, and (iv) an antigenic C- terminal fragment comprising at least 161 amino acid residues of the porin protein F of the Pseudomonas, and obtained by arranging the divisions from the N-terminus to the C-terminus in the order shown before. Preferably, the divisions (i) to (iv) are derived from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and the fused polypeptide is produced by culturing a host cell transformed by a vector including a nucleic acid encoding the fused polypeptide. The vaccine preparation is preferably prepared by using the polypeptide.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove impurities from a liquid and particularly to efficiently refining fusarium toxins in the cereals by arranging an activated carbon layer and an aluminum oxide layer from the inlet side of the liquid to be purified between the inlet and the outlet connected through a flow path and making the liquid to pass through the layers. SOLUTION: A chromatographic column 1 is provided with an inlet 2 to which a liquid sample to be purified is introduced, an outlet 6 for discharging the purified liquid sample and a flow path 10 for connecting the inlet and the outlet. An activated carbon 3 layer and an aluminum oxide 4 layer are arranged as stationary layers in this order between the inlet 2 and the outlet 6. First, impurities such as pigments are removed from the liquid sample at the activated carbon 3 layer and then impurities such as remaining fat, carbohydrates and proteins are removed at the aluminum oxide 4 layer. The activated carbon passing through a 100-mesh to 400-mesh screen is used and the aluminum oxide passing through a 70-mesh to 230-mesh screen is used.

    Abstract: A method for treating a tumor by first determining a type of cancer cell in a tumor sample from a subject, followed by identification in a database a first gene and a second gene that form a compensatory pair in the type of cancer cell, the compensatory pair having a compensatory score (C-score) of at least 0.25, and administration of a first agent that inhibits activity of the first gene and a second agent that inhibits activity of the second gene. Also disclosed is a tumor-treating method that includes determining a C-score-based synthetic lethality score for each of a plurality of genes expressed in cancer cells of the tumor that correspond to a compensatory gene identified among a plurality of compensated gene/compensatory gene pairs in a database. A compensatory pair having a synthetic lethality score of at least -2 is identified from among the plurality of compensatory pairs, and the tumor is treated with two agents that each inhibit a different member of the compensatory pair.
