Abstract: An extract of Vitex rotundifolia L. is provided to have high polyphenol content and show excellent electron donating ability, SOD-like activity, nitrite scavenging capability, xanthine oxidase inhibitory ability and tyrosinase inhibitory ability, thereby being usefully used as a skin aging preventing and skin whitening cosmetic composition. A cosmetic composition for preventing skin aging and whitening comprises an extract of Vitex rotundifolia L. as an effective ingredient, wherein the extract is obtained by extracting seeds or stems with water, C1-4 alcohol, a mixture of water and C1-4 alcohol, propylene glycol, ethyl acetate, butylene glycol, ether or chloroform. Further, the cosmetic composition for preventing skin aging and whitening is a form selected from cosmetic water(skin), cream, emulsion, essence, pack, spray and foundation.

Abstract: Provided are a method for preparing sausage to improve taste, smell and texture, and the sausage prepared by the method which has an antitumor activity by using ginseng. The method comprises the steps of stirring and pulverizing pork and ice; adding salt, an ascorbate salt and a nitrate salt to the mixture with stirring; adding MSG, sugar and sodium phosphate to the mixture with stirring; adding white pepper, allspice, nutmeg and sage to the mixture with stirring; adding casein, fat and ice to the mixture with stirring; adding ISP, starch and ginseng powder or ginseng steamed red powder to the mixture with stirring; putting the mixture into a PVDC pack and casing it into sausage; boiling it in water of 60-80 deg.C for 60-100 min; and showing it with cold water.

Abstract: A method for measuring the amount of ginsenoside Re(GRe) is provided to conveniently analyze the small amount of the GRe having antidiabetic effect and be used for investigating anti-diabetes mechanism, thereby being very usefully used for medical industry. The method comprises the steps of: (a) adding the same mol of periodic acid as that of GRe to the GRe so as to synthesize a GRe immunogen such as GRe-BSA and GRe-OVA; (b) injecting the immunogen into a rabbit to prepare a poly-clonal antibody; (c) allowing the GRe and like-structured compounds to be cross-reacted; and (d) measuring absorptivity of an enzyme linked to a solid phase using an ELISA reader.
