Abstract:
A time attendance system, including a time attendance clock, designed to be used in harsh conditions, such as outdoor job sites. A portable touch button, including a passively readable code, is brought into contact with the time attendance clock so as to create a time attendance record stored in the clock. Visual indicators and audible notification alert the employee of the acceptance of the act. Periodically, the time attendance records are retrieved from the time attendance clock, such as by using a hand-held electronic device which communicates in a wireless manner with the time attendance clock.
Abstract:
A flexible optical marker is applied to an optical scale substrate to make an optical scale assembly for an optical position encoder. The marker may be a limit marker, index marker, or other type of marker. The marker substrate may be a plastic film such as polyester, singulated from a "recombine" roll created by a web process. The marker has a microstructured pattern on one surface that is covered with a reflective metal coating. The marker also has an adhesive layer and is affixed to the optical scale substrate by a process of aligning the marker to an edge of the scale and then applying pressure to the upper surface of the marker. The marker may be applied with a handle portion that is separated from the marker after the marker is affixed. The marker may be especially useful with a flexible scale substrate such as a metal tape substrate. By affixing the marker to the scale substrate as a separate step of making an encoder scale, various benefits such as reduced inventory, cost, and lead time may be achieved.

This invention concerns compositions for the treatment of urinary frequency, urinary urgency and urinary incontinence comprising ( R )- N -[4-[2-[[2-hydroxy-2-(pyridin-3-yl)ethyl]amino]ethyl]phenyl]-4-[4-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)thiazol-2-yl]benzenesulfonamide and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. In another aspect, this invention concerns combination therapy for urinary frequency, urinary urgency and urinary incontinence wherein one of the active agents is ( R )- N -[4-[2-[[2-hydroxy-2-(pyridin-3-yl)ethyl]amino]ethyl]phenyl]-4-[4-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)thiazol-2-yl]benzenesulfonamide and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
Abstract:
A multi-protocol interface (10) for coupling a field device (12) to a general purpose computer (14) is disclosed. The interface (10) includes measurement circuitry (32) to perform a plurality of measurements on a connected process communication loop (16) to determine a process communication loop type. Then, if the interface (10) includes a protocol interface module (26, 28) that matches the detected loop type, the protocol interface module (26, 28) can be engaged. A method (100) for coupling a field device (12) to a general purpose computer (14) is also provided. In one aspect, power from the general purpose computer (14) is used to power the process communication loop (16), if the interface (10) determines that the loop (16) is not powered.
Abstract:
Disclosed are conjugates in which an aminoadamantane derivative, such as amantadine, memantine, or rimantadine is linked to a therapeutic agent. The conjugate can then be used to target the therapeutic agent to an injured neuron.
Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention can comprise a primary flow measurement system, a secondary flow measurement system in fluid communication with the primary flow measurement system and a control coupled to the primary flow measurement system and the secondary flow measurement system. The controller can comprise a processor and a memory accessible by the processor. The processor can execute computer instructions stored on the memory to calculate a flow rate using the primary flow measurement system, in a first mode of operation, and calculate the flow rate using the secondary flow measurement system, in a second mode of operation. The computer instructions can be further executable to switch between the first mode of operation and the second mode of operation based on a predefined parameter.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for controlling the temperature of a wafer are disclosed. These systems and methods may employ a back side wafer pressure control system (BSWPC) that includes subsystems and a controller operable in tandem to control the temperature of wafers in one or more process chambers. The subsystems may include mechanical components for controlling a flow of gas to the backside of a wafer while the controller may be utilized to control these mechanical components in order to control wafer temperature in a process chamber. Furthermore, embodiments of these systems and methods may also use a chiller in combination with the controller to provide both coarse and fine temperature control.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for flow verification and validation of mass flow controllers are disclosed. A mass flow controller may be commanded to a specified flow and flow measurement commenced. During an interval, gas is accumulated in a first volume and measurements taken within this volume. The various measurements taken during the interval may then be used to calculate the flow rate. The flow rate, in turn, may be used to determine the accuracy of the mass flow controller relative to a setpoint.
Abstract:
Techniques for the sensitive detection of analytes which combine the benefits of solution/suspension phase assay formats and the simplicity of solid phase/lateral flow assays are described. The assays can be performed in the solution/suspension phase using magnetic microspheres as a solid support. Subsequently a magnetic separation can be performed to separate the bound analyte from the remainder of the solution. After a wash step, the fluorescence signal can be directly read from the magnetic particle surface. Portable biodetection systems which employ fluorescent polymer superquenching and methods for detecting bioagents therewith are also described.
Abstract:
A method and system of conditioning human skin and hair using a hand-held skin/hair conditioner (30) having interchangeable interface conductors (90) that are contoured to enhance electrical conductivity between the conditioner and a variety of body areas. Each of the interchangeable interface conductors are preferably formed to maximize surface area contact with a variety of body surfaces such as scalp/hair, body skin, and facial skin. In a preferred embodiment, the skin/hair conditioner is formed to fit comfortably and controllably in a user's grasp while providing maximum contact with the selected body surface. The skin/hair conditioner includes an audio signal generator and a vibration mechanism to alert a user of a change in status of the conditioner. The interface conductors may be smoothly rounded, include teeth, or include multiple rounded nodules. The interface conductors and system may have a releasable latch, and spring arrangements (98) for ejecting the interface conductor when the latch is released.
