Abstract:
The invention relates to a composite twisted cable formed by impregnating carbon fibers with thermoplastic resin, and provides a fiber composite twisted cable which allows downsizing of a reel by being easy to be bent, can be transported to mountain areas which is normally hard to achieve a transport with a large vehicle, is hard to be curled, and is superior in workability. It is a cable having 1×n structure which is formed by impregnating bundles of carbon fibers with thermosetting resin, then twisting a plurality of strands each formed by covering an outer periphery of the bundle with a fiber, and then curing the thermosetting resin by applying the heat treatment, and a core strand and side strands which constitute the cable are separated and independent without being bonded so as to allow independent behavior of the respective strands when the cable is bent.
Abstract:
In an elevator, preferably one without machine room, a hoisting machine engages a set of hoisting ropes via a traction sheave, said set of hoisting ropes comprising hoisting ropes of substantially circular cross-section. The ropes have a load-bearing part twisted from steel wires of circular and/or non-circular cross-section. The steel wires of the hoisting ropes have a cross-sectional area larger than about 0.015 mm2 and smaller than about 0.2 mm2 and a strength exceeding about 2000 N/mm2. The elevator preferably has a hoisting machine of substantially light weight relative to the nominal load.

Abstract:
To identify the need for replacement of stranded synthetic fiber ropes, preferably ropes of aramide fiber, a torsionally neutral rope construction of load-bearing fiber strands is obtained by having at least two layers of strands laid together in opposite directions so that the torsional forces in the layers of strands compensate each other. If the layers of the strands become weakened by unequal amounts due to wear or external influences, when the rope is under load and running operationally it begins to twist about its longitudinal axis. The twisting of the rope can be made visible by a colored mark or strip extending along the length of the rope to indicate twisting of the rope thereby providing visual identification of the need for replacement of the rope.
Abstract:
Cable as suspension means for lifts. A synthetic fiber cable is connected with an elevator car or load-receiving means, with a sheathing, surrounding an outermost cable strand layer, consisting of synthetic material, preferably polyurethane, with the cable strands being twisted or laid up of individual aramide fibers, wherein each individual strand is treated with an impregnating medium for the protection of the fibers and a friction-reducing intermediate sheathing is interposed between the outermost strand layer and the inner strand layer, and in order to obtain an almost circularly shaped strand layer and increase the degree of filling of the strands, any gaps therein are augmented by filler strands.
Abstract:
A core for wire rope has a fluted member (1) of polymeric or elastomeric material with symmetrically spaced helical grooves (2) each having the shape of an elliptical arc in cross-section in a plane normal to the core axis. The core may contain a reinforcing member, conductors, or optical fibers.
Abstract:
The twistless and/or weakly twisted wire rope or cable with the many strand many layer structure comprises a core rope and a cover layer stranded on the core rope in an opposite stranding direction. The core rope is made exclusively from substantially circular strands and the cover layer is made exclusively from only one layer of substantially flat strands.
Abstract:
A method is provided for making a plastic-filled wire rope by preheating a lubricated wire rope to a temperature close to the melting point of the plastic material with which the rope is to be filled, and then injecting the plastic material in molten state under heat and pressure into the wire rope so as to fill essentially completely the interstices between the strands and the individual wires, while displacing and removing most of the lubricant initially present within the rope. The obtained novel plastic-filled, lubricated wire rope has improved wear and fatigue resistance as well as increased life.
Abstract:
A wire rope, particularly a non-twistable wire rope, wherein an annulus of outer strands surrounds a wire rope center with a central strand and one or more annuli of neighboring strands surrounding the central strand. The wires of the strands in the center do not intersect each other. The entire center or at least some of its strands are densified prior to or during application of the outer strands. Alternatively, or in addition to such densification, at least some strands of the center are assembled of wires having an other than circular outline to thereby reduce the combined cross-sectional area of voids in the center.
Abstract:
A rotation resistant rope comprising a central multi-wire strand of Seale's construction, an intermediate layer comprising a plurality of multi-wire strands closed in one operation around the central strand, and a covering layer of 10 multi-wire strands closed around the intermediate layer. Each intermediate and covering layer of strands has a direction of lay opposite to that of the other layer of strands. The outside strands and core are always laid opposite each other, but the wires within each of these strands may be Lang lay, although Regular lay is preferred, particularly for the outside strands. The 10 outside strands may comprise from 7 to 26 wires and all of the strands are identical. However, in a preferred construction each of the outside strands consists of 19 wires. The intermediate layer and the central multi-wire strand may comprise a core of 25 elements, with the intermediately layer of the core comprising 8 to 10 strands, with all of the strands being identical, and the central multi-wire strand comprising a 1-8-8 wire strand, a 1-9-9 wire strand or a 1-10-10 wire strand.
