Abstract: A motor control system includes a DC-to-DC converter including a semiconductor switch and a reactor that cooperates with the switch to convert input-side DC bus voltage across first and second input-side DC buses into predetermined output-side DC bus voltage across first and second output-side DC buses and to output the output-side voltage, control circuitry that controls duty factor of the switch and determine, based on input-side detection value of the input-side voltage and output-side detection value of the output-side voltage, whether there is failure in the system when the factor is 100 percent and reactor-current detection value of reactor current through the reactor is approximately zero, a smoothing capacitor connected to the output-side buses and disposed between the output-side buses, and an inverter that is connected to the capacitor through the output-side buses, converts DC power from the output-side buses into AC power and supplies the power to a motor.

Abstract: In a control apparatus for an AC motor, a voltage waveform specifying unit of an inverter control unit specifies a voltage waveform for operating the inverter, based on a voltage vector calculated by a voltage command calculation unit. A spectrum amplitude extraction unit acquires values of bus current of the inverter and extracts the spectrum amplitude of the specific frequency that corresponds to the LC resonance frequency of the converter. A boost/non-boost state judgement unit of a converter control unit determines whether the state required by the converter in the next control cycle is the boost state or the non-boost state. When the spectrum amplitude of the specific frequency, correlated with the voltage waveform, is higher than the judgement threshold value and the converter is in the non-boost state, a voltage command value alteration unit changes the voltage command reference value such that the converter transitions to the boost state.

An inductive element of the boost converter and the buck converter is provided by the coil winding of the at least one of the plurality of stator teeth, and the charge storage element is referenced to a supply node for coupling the second terminal of the coil winding to an electrical supply.

Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to a hybrid solid-state propulsion system for aerial vehicles which includes a thermoelectric generator. The thermoelectric generator includes a first heat exchanger disposed within an exhaust duct of an unmanned aerial vehicle. The thermoelectric generator further includes a first ceramic layer disposed on the first heat exchanger and a first and second metal tab bonded to the first ceramic layer. The thermoelectric generator further includes a second metal tab bonded to a second ceramic layer. At least one N-type thermoelectric leg is disposed between the first metal tab bonded to the first ceramic layer and the metal tab bonded to the second ceramic layer. Further, at least one P-type thermoelectric leg is disposed between the second metal tab bonded to the first ceramic layer and the metal tab bonded to the second ceramic layer.

Abstract: AC motor driving system and driving method thereof are provided. The driving system and method are capable of increasing power factor, adjusting waveform of the DC ripple voltage for increasing driving efficiency. The driving system is basically constructed by connecting three circuits. The first circuit is a three-phase full wave rectifying circuit and is used to transfer commercial electricity to a first DC voltage. Then, the second circuit is used to transfer the first DC voltage to a second DC voltage that ripples voltage thereof having a semi-sinusoidal waveform. The third circuit is an AC driving circuit, and receives the second AC voltage for driving the AC motor. Thereby, the driving efficiency can be increased. The capacitance used in the present disclosure has low capacitance value, thus the power factor can be increased, and usage time of the AC motor driving apparatus can also be increased.

The hybrid propulsion system includes a combustor, a thermophotovoltaic generator, and a thermoelectric generator. The combustor burns a chemical based fuel to produce radiation and heat that are converted into electricity used to power the aerial vehicle. The thermophotovoltaic generator is positioned to receive radiation and remnant heat generated by flames in the combustor while the thermoelectric generator receives heat from exhausted flue gases from the combustor.
