Abstract:
The invention relates to primary galvanic cells (batteries) for use with salt water electrolytes, such as sea water. The cell has a rod like anode made preferably of a magnesium alloy, and a cathode consisting of a stainless steel substrate coated with a catalyst for the reduction of oxygen. Examples of catalysts are cobalt spinel, cobalt nickel spinel and active carbon. The cell can be constructed with the cathode (1, 13, 29) coaxially arranged around a rod like anode (4, 12, 31).
Abstract:
This invention relates to a composite power/optical fiber cable comprising A) a central single core power conductor (1), having layer(s) of insulation (2), a metal screen (3) and corrosion protective layers including an inner plastic sheath (4), and B) at least one optical fiber (11:16;22;27;31;46;50). The at least one optical fiber is arranged between the screen (3) and the plastic sheath (4). The optical fibers can be incorporated in the power cable in the form of fibers encompassed by a metal tube, - grouped in ribbons, bands or units.
Abstract:
This invention relates to splicing of fibre optic subsea cables and in particular to box units for such splices. The unit (1) comprises termination means for armour wires and for central strength members and a sealed off housing (2) for fibre splices. The armour wires termination means (22) is arranged in pivot heads (4) hinged to the housing (2) and the box unit (1) is provided with box tilting means (31,32).
Abstract:
The invention relates to high voltage surge arrestors which are installed in parallel with an electric apparatus to be protected from excessive high voltages, such as a high voltage power cable or a transformer. The arrestor consists of one or more annular bodies (9,19,32), through the hollow of which a high voltage conductor (3,31) is terminated. The arrestor may also be used with penetrators and transformer bushings.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hold and release arrangement for an offshore catenary cable (1). The hang-off head (2) of the cable (1) is releasably secured to a platform (3) or the like by means of a pin/slot arrangement (4,5). In one embodiment of the invention a part (5) of the hold and release means cooperates with a hydraulically operated wedge arrangement (10) which may be operated to release the hang-off head (2) from the platform (3).
