Abstract: The present invention provides a novel feed forward amplifier ("FFA") and a pilot tone generator-receiver therefor. In an embodiment of the invention, t he feed forward amplifier only requires a single oscillator to operate both the pilot tone generator and pilot tone receiver used in conjunction with the amplifier circuitry of the FFA. In another embodiment of the invention, a method is provided of generating and detecting a pilot tone from a single oscillating signal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a novel system, method and apparatus for allocating power between at least two communication services that share a common power output limit. Two communication services particularly suited for the present invention are voice services and data services transmitted on the downlink of a wireless network. An embodiment of the method includes determining the actual consumption of power on the voice channels of the wireless network during a given time period, and allocating substantially the same amount of power to the voice channels for the next time period, thus allowing for the allocation of the remaining amount of power to the data services, and thereby allowing, for example, increased modulation of the data services and thereby improve overall rates of data transfer and/or reliability of data transmission.

Abstract: A novel power control system and method for CDMA telecommunications systems allows the rate of power control updates to be changed, adaptively, as needed on an on going basis. Up to date power control information is available, via a user control channel, to also establish a dedicated channel between stations in an efficient manner. In one embodiment, a pre-selected number of SNR levels, reported by a subscriber station to a base station, are considered and if the variation in these levels is less than a pre-selected lower amount, the rate at which power control information (including the reported SNR levels) is reduced. If the variation is greater than a pre-selected upper amount, the power control rate can be increased.

Abstract: A wireless local loop system manages radio data transmission capacity and network resources shared by a plurality of subscriber stations by considerin g the type of connections desired to be created to the subscriber stations and the radio data transmission capacity, and in some cases QoS parameters, and network resources required for those connections. The subscriber stations include data and telephony ports and can include a subscriber utilization client (SUC) to assist in the management process. The SUC in each subscriber station communicates with a network utilization manager (NUM) to request network resources from the base station. The NUM determines the requirements , in data transmission capacity and/or QoS levels, for the desired connection and considers the utilization of the network resources at the base station, or sector of the base station, in determining whether to establish the desired connection. The NUM can consider the required level and a desired level of data transmission capacity and/or QoS levels and allocate resources for the connection according to either level, or therebetween. The SUC and NUM can prioritize the establishment of connections on an appropriate basis, includi ng the type of connection, the parties to the connection, the revenue potential of the connection and the port for the connection at the subscriber station, etc.

Un detector, la entrada del cual esta conectada al nodo de cancelacion y la salida del cual esta conectada a los controladores, produce una medida de la envoltura de la senal en el nodo de cancelacion. Despues del periodo preseleccionado, se obtienen nuevos valores para las senales de direccion de derivacion presentados al ajustador de ganancia y fase a traves de los controladores multiplicando la salida del detector por la senal de rastreo respectiva, cada una durante el periodo preseleccionado respectivo, sumando cada serie resultante de valores, y cambiando las senales de direccion de derivacion que seran moduladas y presentadas al ajustador de ganancia y fase de acuerdo con los valores de las sumas respectivas.

Abstract: Se proporcionan un aparato, sistema y metodo novedosos para transmitir flujos de datos que tienen diferentes atributos de calidad de servicio (QoS) a traves de un enlace de red estructurado en dos o mas elementos. El metodo clasifica paquetes de llegada para determinar sus atributos de QoS requeridos/asignados y coloca los paquetes clasificados en una de varias colas de canal logico, la cola de canal logico seleccionada teniendo un grupo correspondiente apropiado de atributos de QoS definidos. Un controlador de enlace de radio examina los canales disponibles y, para cada canal, selecciona una cola de canal logico cuyos contenidos seran transmitidos en la misma. El controlador de enlace de radio determina la capacidad de transmision de datos para cada canal y segmenta los contenidos del canal logico selecciono para ajustarse dentro de la capacidad determinada. La seleccion de la cola de canal logico se realiza de acuerdo con el grupo de atributos de QoS y de esta manera cada flujo puede tener diferentes caracteristicas de QoS, incluyendo prioridades, consistencias (ARQ, no ARQ, etc.).
