Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing an Ecklonia cava extract treated with an enzyme and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to suppress tyrosinase and melanogenesis. CONSTITUTION: A composition for skin whitening contains 0.001-20 wt% of an Ecklonia cava extract treated with an enzyme as an active ingredient. The enzyme is a cell wall degrading enzyme including celluclast or protease including pectinase. The composition is a cosmetic composition or a pharmaceutical composition.
