Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and system for reading images are provided to read images from a document uniformly and correctly irrespective of the kind of the document. CONSTITUTION: A transfer speed of a document that is transferred through at least one roller is measured(10). It is judged whether the transfer speed is included in a predetermined range(12). When the transfer speed is not in the predetermined range, deviation of the transfer speed from the predetermined range is calculated(14). Images are read from the document in consideration of the deviation(16). When the transfer speed is in the predetermined range, the images are read from the document irrespective of the deviation. The number of revolutions of the roller is measured as the transfer speed. The predetermined range corresponds to a range to which the number of revolutions belongs when the document is normally transferred.
